Funny story about LAPD Academy

I have always cleanned muzzle loaders with nothing more than a bucket of hot water and dish soap. It's the only way to get them real clean.

That's how we do it. There's always a pot of hot water on the campfire just for cleaning muzzle loaders. A couple of caps to dry the nipple and you're good for another hundred yankees.

it makes perfect sense to use the dishwasher if you need it that clean...just be sure to lube it. with a Glock, it doesn't even need that much lube. it is not like these are 1911 platforms where you need to tear them down every 1k rounds.

the key to passing any academy is to figure out how the game is played and play it "their way". it doesn't have to make sense...like a Dilbert cartoon, but without the humor bubbles.

i took me a couple of weeks to figure out that you never wore your "class A" uniform, leather or shoes except for inspection and that the shoe shine guy at Nordstrom could get a better shine on my shoes faster than my time was worth

I have to go with your evaluation. a happy instructor means you end up getting that paycheck at the end of the day. then you can afford to upgrade to a nicer dish washer. LOL. I remember when I went to the academy I was on the grinder a half hour before the instructors arrived. I was on the grinder before they even went in to their office. my motivation made them very forgiving when i had difficulty in other areas. you do what you have to do to get through the academy. If that means ruining a dishwasher, so be it. the things we had to do for this job. LOL. I have to laugh every day. stay safe everyone.

and it's not like you'll use the dishwasher much while in the academy.

i ate a lot of ramen/cup-a-noodles, microwave food and take-out/drive through food

i could wash a fork/chopsticks and glasses in the sink

In Iraq it wasn't uncommon to see guys take their M4/M16's into the shower with them for a good rinse down.

Not my cup of tea, but to each their own.
