    Ouch...

OK....Squeamish guys need to leave the room now. This thread has to do with bad things happening to the family jewels...

OK...So I had the big "V" on Saturday. Everyone says "no big deal", Dr. says I should be back at work on Monday. I'm skeptical.

I had my schedule adjusted so I had Sun off. I didn't feel comfortable going back on Monday so I called in. Felt OK Monday night so I went in on Tues. Did OK all day...Nothing fancy happened...Did a little walking over debris looking for an old guy who was supposedly trying to commit suicide via sleeping pills. In and out of the car a bunch, as normal, and the trainee and I took a couple reports.

Went home and just didn't feel great. Aching pain and then later that night I noticed two new bruises "down there". Not good. Of course...I'm dumb, so I went to work on Wed. anyway. By the end of the day I could barely walk. I "moseyed" into the Sgt's office, took the mocking in stride, and called in for today.

I still feel like crap, and I hope this is the "worse" before the "better". I called in again tomorrow, have Sat off, and I'm hoping to be able to go back on Sunday.

I post this for two reasons.... 1)...I have frozen vegetables pressed against my junk for another five minutes and I'm bored. 2)...Before the "procedure" I did a bunch of searches on LEO forums for vasectomy info and didn't get much so I figured others might want to read a thread specifically geared towards man-troubles... and 3)...I need to vent to someone. Every time I whine my wife starts talking about our 9lb 14oz (at birth) son and I get shut down....OK...So I came up with another reason...gimme some slack!

So I now officially open this uncomfortable thread for advice, questions, jokes, stories, and minor ribbing. If the ribbing gets too serious I'll post a picture...Really...Don't provoke me or you'll be sorry!

Get yourself a good jockstrap to keep the fellas up close and personal. Stay off your feet as much as possible til you feel better.

I had mine done on a Thursday, drove the waterski boat on Friday (didn't ski) paid for it on Saturday, and went back to work on Sunday. Had a female partner and was working a mountain car climbing in a 4x4 Blazer all day. Took kidding for about a week based on my stride.

      I feel your pain.

None of the "danger signs" have appeared....No major swelling, the pain really isn't all that bad...It's just enough to make you not want to move/aggravate it. Oh yea...And I called the doctor this morning...He's booked until next Thursday so if I have a problem I have to go to urgent care or the hospital.

It's funny...Honestly it's not so bad, but at least in my case, the whole "back at work in two days" is a load of donkey excrement. And of course, now that I've passed the line in the sand, everyone is telling me that this is normal...I guess I was talking to the wrong people before.

I had originally planned to have it done at the beginning of my month-long vacation. Of course, it got postponed so I got stuck doing it now. From a pain standpoint it's easily dealt with. I've only taken Extra Strength Tylenol a couple times and never touched the Vicodin he prescribed. The problem is that I know I can't practically climb a fence or scale a wall and help my partner on the other side and I think the weight and position of the duty belt makes it worse....

Seeing as how i'm practically a doctor, my advice to you is to drink heavily.

            Hey partner, TAKE THE VICODIN.

And don't let your trainee climb fences. They break too easily. Stick him/her in the trunk until you feel like doing police work again. It's good for them from time to time.

You mean I'm supposed to let him out of the trunk at some point?

SoCalDep, you should take a few if you can afford it. It could be you or your trainees life on the line.

The word picture of two bags of frozen veggies wedged against your junk was more than sufficient, thank you very much. Just take it easy for a couple of days and all will be well.

Only for Code X-ray, buy you Code 7, and shine your boots.

My personal favorite pain reliever for knee surgery #3 was a Darvorita, a proper blend of a margarita and a Darvocet. What pain it doesn't eliminate, you just don't care about.
