i got pulled over for that!!?

So i went and picked up my buddy down in clairemont yesterday.Driving down balboa i see a leo pull up behind me at light.. ok no big deal im not doing anything bad or stupid. Then after 2 lights he flashes his lights pulls me over.So i pull into a parking lot off the busy street. The officer and his partner walk up on each side and the rookie as it seemed as main officer was explaining how to go about certain stuff starting asking my freind questions*i know should of had my windows up*

The one officer asks me what im doing down their and where i am coming from.I tell him.He then says i have a 3rd brake light out.My 3rd brake light is clear from factory so how would he know its supposed to be 3rd brake light and not cargo dome right? He then asks for reg and license i give it to him.

He then asks if i am the primary driver on the vehicle and i say no im borrowing it from my mom right now.He then asks if i am the secondary driver and if i drive it more than my mom.Trolling just a little bit?He even asked for my moms name as it appears on the insurance.I told him i dont drive it more than her and im borrowing it for the night and gave him my moms name.

He then proceeds to get a little bit of an attitude and real snippy like he is trolling for somthing and he didnt find anything so hes a little mad.He then proceeds to go back issue a fix it ticket for a 3rd brake light. He comes back up then drops all the paperwork on the ground and looked like he was nervous kinda shaking in the hands.... it was real weird.i sign to say i will appear in court or fix problem.

He then says be careful backing out.I wait till hes gone then start up my truck and leave. Why the hell did he pull me over? Really just for a 3rd brake light? So since i didnt do anything bad and have both rear brakes at farthest back of vehicle working properly i gotta spend $13 bucks for somthing this stupid.

Sorry for the leos in here.im not flamming or being anti but i mean come on their has to be more serious stuff down their than pulling me over for a 3rd brake light...now i gotta go buy a bulb fix it then track down a leo in my town to sign off on it.its just very aggravating

your probably not going to get a very positive response from a leo on this. not to flame on them. but this is a standard procedure around my city. its like fishing. if you never toss your line in the water your never going to catch anything. and some times you catch a monster off a salmon egg. more than likely it was just a training move for a rookie. they need experience in all facets of law enforcement and routine traffic stops is one of them. other times your in a shady part of town and the local duty cop in the area doesnt recognize your vehicle as a regular in the area and they just want to investigate a little as to your intentions in the area. i personally feel that this is one of those small prices to pay for having leo's in the area that want to do their job. they could have just as easily sat somewhere not questioning anybody and that serves no purpose. i would much rather get pulled over every now and then to explain myself then have no police presence around at all. but i have nothing to hide. so i really dont care much about that sort of thing.
and on a side note. i have been pulled over for my exhaust pipe being too "big". only to be let go with no violation after all my stuff checked out. basically took the opportunity to see if i was legit. so be it.
    Natural selection has arrived!!!

You're in the wrong forum to be crying and whining about your ticket.

        This is called "fishing"....

The VC is so thick that NO ONE would be able to drive down a section of the road without breaking one or many of the VC. Any of those will gives LEO PC to pull you over. Sometimes, driving the kind of car which doesn't show up in frequently in the neighborhood will also trigger these (follow you for a while, and wait until he find some PC to pull you over actions).

MOST of the time, what they are really looking for is drunk driver, suspicious activities, stolen vehicle etc... and MOST of the time if you are clean (reg/insurance up-to-date, etc), they will let you go without issuing you a ticket.

Your fix-it ticket is just "unlucky"... I guess...

You might want to check if its only $13 dollars. i heard fix it ticket fines have gone up because of local govt budgets are stressed in certain counties. Not sure though.

Good to see that we still have immature 9 year olds trolling the forum that are no help.

nickvig thanks for that link that shed some light on the subject.Kinda suprised i was not let off with a warning.I have had a headlight go out before at night and they let me know and actually escorted me to the autozone so i could buy a replacement to put in.Of coarse that was in a different town. they wrote meup on the 24603(b)

What sort of help are you looking for? Let's recap:

                    1. Driving mom's car.
                    2. Pulled over.
                    3. Tells you the reason he pulled you over.
                    3. You assume 2nd cop is rookie.
                    4. You assume cop is trolling.
                    5. Writes you a fix-it ticket.
                    6. You leave.
                    7. You complain on the internet.

Again I repeat... you're in the wrong forum to be complaining about a traffic stop. You have no legitimate question other than the fact you think the cop should have something better to do.

Yes, good for me, and yes, my day was perfectly fine. Again, you're apparently full of assumptions.
