Anybody else remember riding with you dad when he pulled into a gas station, having an attendent in proper uniform come right over. Your dad saying, "Fill 'er up with ethol." The attendant would begin filling, and then pop the hood, check the oil, and inflate the tires. And after it was completed, he's dial out a bunch of Blue Chip Stamps for you.

Retired, I can only speak for myself, but last week I had a PSA test done by my Dr. It came back positive for dust. I asked him for a prescription for Viagra. The Dr. told me no, because it would be like putting a brand new flag pole on a condemed building.

On a serious note...I recall that you did not have to show your actual CDL, Reg and Insurance card to the other party in a fender bender. You, technically, only needed to provide name, CDL number, Insurance Co. name and policy number to the other party. It was from a class about fraudulent insurance incidents where people would deliberately cause an accident to get insurance $$. Or, to get you out of the car for jacking or assault purposes. The instructor suggested a pre-printed card or paper with just that info on it, no DOB, middle name, home address, etc.

I cannot recall if the instructor, a cop, cited legal references to this practice but I would sure prefer my wife to not give up the home address or personal (aka potential ID theft) info to a total stranger.

Blacking out the address on a copy of the registration card makes it no longer a reasonable facsimile of the original.

A copy is sufficient, and long as it is a true copy.

I seen a few people do it (blacking out the address) and never really questioned it because I understood why it was done. There DL and my CAD would verify the address anyway. One other thing you can do is use a PO box.

I agree, just trying to give the OP a factual answer that would apply across the board when dealing with any LEO.

Well I'm gald you hold no hard feelings for us hijacking your thread. No harm was intended. As far as being old is concerned, I look better than most people my age. Especially if they have a closed casket.

I get no respect I tell ya, no respect at all.
