    Jury duty

After you retired, did you get a jury duty notice?

Yep, took a few years before they started coming. So far the ones I have gotten been a complete waste of a day.

When you get to 70 you're exempt.

I’m still active and have gotten a few of them. I’d love to be able to serve. I believe I’d be a great juror.

I've served on 3 juries, plus I've gone 2 other times that I wasn't selected. A few years ago, I decided that I've done my duty and just ignored 2 separate jury summons. Never heard back from the court about not showing up. Now that I'm retired I'd be happy to serve on a jury. I'm amazed at how many folks have never been on a jury.

Yes. I got a jury-duty notice (in NV), but my group didn't get called in.
This satisfied my jury service for the next year or two, after which I'll be exempt due to age, although I could serve if called up again if I so desire.

This, more terrible service from the postal service.

                    Nope.
I was requested to serve on a grand jury at age 71.
45 min drive each way thru a winding mountain racetrack of jacked up commuters.
I wrote a long letter to the jury commish and was finally let off the hook.

                      Jury duty

Im not LE but search and rescue. Always went, never called up.

First time called up I was asked if I had any LE friends or relatives. Buh-bye.

Where I live in NV, I'll be exempted due to age, if I so desire.
In CA, here's the wording, Rule 2.1008 CA RULES OF COURT, for CA courts:

"(5) The prospective juror has a physical or mental disability or impairment, not affecting that person's competence to act as a juror, that would expose the potential juror to undue risk of mental or physical harm. In any individual case, unless the person is aged 70 years or older, the prospective juror may be required to furnish verification or a method of verification of the disability or impairment, its probable duration, and the particular reasons for the person's inability to serve as a juror."

Merely taking a car or bus to jury duty could be a risk of physical harm. I suppose it'll also depend on how the Calif. jury duty notice is worded and whether there's a box to check merely due to age. It doesn't mean the courts won't send a jury duty notification just due to age, however.

If you can’t say the right words to get out of jury duty, you’re a M***n.

Jury duty seems kind of important no?
