    Forgive me if this question has been answered already, but my duty gun was a Sig with hi-cap mags. Can I still carry hi-cap mags under LEOSA?

      Please see Penal Code section 32406. So long as your former federal position qualifies, you can carry large-capacity magazines in California.

      But remember that California law is full of "quirks." One of the "quirks" that applies here, is that if you ever take a large-capacity magazine out of California, it is a felony for you to bring it back into California, even if you're a retired federal LEO.

          My Agency gives two cards on request. One for CA only, good for 5 years, and the 2nd for Fed interstate, and is good for 1 year. Essentially identical in appearance, except on the back. One says CA only, and one says Fed.

            My agency did not put an expiration date on my card, just an issuance date. That is the only way to date it, except for the described weight, hair color... and quantity.

              Wow, I'm not surprised to see that other people are having the same issues with understanding LEOSA that I did. My HR couldn't even explain to me what was required to carry under LEOSA when I retired 4 years ago. I had to study 926c and it was pretty clear with all of the definitions. I had trouble a couple of times when questioned about my ability to carry because my credentials do not say CCW/LEOSA/hr218, and it doesn't need to. It just has the basics of what is required on the law. Anything more is an Agency/Dept decision to make it more understood to those not familiar with the law to show that you're good to go.

                On my Retiree ID Card;

                "To carry it Nationwide under 18 USC $ 926(c), the retiree must also provide proof of qualification upon request".

                When I qualify annually the Rangemaster said take a picture of your Scorecard and save it in your iPhone.
