    M&P 2.0

How is 2.0 9mm as duty pistol? Compared to other popular choices. P320, Glock , etc.

2.0 is improved version and will have the better trigger than Glock factory triggers. For its size and accuracy, I prefer M&P M2.0 over other 2 pistols.

LASD is issuing the M&P9 M2.0s and replacing the original issued M&P9s for the deputies.

Many use them for duty, they are a good dependable service gun. I think comparing them to the other two will come down to if you are ok with the hinged trigger. It is a different feel, but if your fine with that the rest of the trigger and reset are nice.

          S&W 2.0

I picked up a 2.0 with a 3.6 in barrel, with safety, at ProForce a year and a half ago. It came with 3 mags and I bought 2 more. I bought it as a future retirement gift for myself.

Smaller and less bulkier than my current off duty HK USP .45 compact, with pretty much the controls in same location.

I was disappointed, however, with the upgraded trigger as I found it not as smooth a pull as was reported by other reviews. The trigger on the 2.0 did feel better than a 1.0 compact I used to own, but I think S&W could have done better. So, I replaced the still "crunchy" trigger with an Apex kit, using the L.E. trigger spring.

Bingo! Talk about an improvement. The trigger pull was transformed into a smoother pull, with little to no felt roughness. I highly suggest looking at installing an APEX trigger on a 2.0 or even a 1.0. The money is well spent.

I didn't find there to be a dramatic improvement in the trigger of the 2.0 out of the box. But the 2.0's respond nicely to live fire breaking in. Noticeable improvement after around 500 rounds, significant improvement after 750 or so. I'm not knocking aftermarket upgrades, but the gun sorts itself out fabulously with normal use.

The trigger is far superior to glocks out of the box

Im not LEO but I can tell you that the M&P 2.0 compact has got to be the most over looked and under-rated pistols out there. A few years back I carried the P320 compact for a while ...great gun.... and then switched out for PPS and Shield. I will be putting the M&P compact on my renewal next month.

Random question- So the LAPD picked the FN 509 pistol....What if they did do with the M&P 2.0? I am sure the 2.0's would have worked fine as well. Just curious.

Maybe they got a better price or the FN tested better. Could be any number of things.

The best duty trigger on the M&P 2.0 is the Performance Center (CORE) version. Little smoother travel, and crisper break; over-travel stop screw.

Like mentioned above, works better after break-in.

I've owned standard 2.0 in compact to 5" and these Performance Center COREs. The hinged trigger isn't a deal-breaker, but it's not what some prefer. Personally, I prefer the Glock style. Have had NO failures of ANY sort unless induced for training.

The BEST feature of the M&P has been the "better" grip angle vs the Glock-hump induced pointing frustration. That being said, neither duty pistol is going to fail you.

From what I hear, the FN was simply the pistol that survived the 20,000 mean round test with zero failures (but no one seems to know what other manufacturers were tested.. ).

I've held the FN MRD LE and dry fired it. Not impressed with the trigger "out of the box." Felt mushy and sloppy. Maybe that improves with usage too?

I'm not really a SW guy, but really like those 2.0. I think they would be ideal for LE. Oh well.

Question- is the stock 2.0 trigger good right out of the box?

I've put around 30k+ rounds through my duty 4.25" 2.0. I've shot mostly factory ammo and it has never had a problem. I just got the 5" model as a range/duty gun. The grip angle and grip inserts make it easy to fit it perfectly to your hand. Solid guns and I won't look twice at a Glock ever again.
