I have both and like them both. I use them equally so it will boil down on what you want. I prefer the rounded grip on the p320 rather than the x5 style grip. I have an x5 which is fun to shoot.

P320 has lots of options to decorate like your Honda Civic so get what blows your dress up

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

          Id rather carry a p320.
M17 is the best pistol ive ever qualified with, shot a 50/50 on the LEWTAQ with it, only shot a 48/50 with the M9.
If I shot the G17 I doubt id get a similar score just because I have only shot a G17 3 times and only qualified with it once. Just not used to it. But thats a me problem as plenty of people are extremely proficient with the G17.

I have both(M17, Gen 4 and RTF2 17)carried the G22 on duty, I would feel fine with either. But would lean towards the G17 if given the option.

P320 is a better gun, and I like it better. It is also my agency issued weapon.

Gen. 5's best version out to date IMHO. MOS better. Looking forward to the Holosun direct mount that will let us use OEM Glock sights. Glock grip angle necessitates rotating thumbs toward the target, wrist and elbows bent to accommodate. Need to run a Medium grip back strap on Gen 4/5 to mimic Gen 3 large frame pistols (G20/G21) grip size.

Very much wanting a Gen 5 G21/MOS and G41/MOS to be issued.

Sig 320 has a higher bore axis. Modular grip assemblies are a plus. Don't care for Sig slides milled only for Sig and Delta-point optics, but Sig is allowing other non-Sig retailers to provide slides (Grey Ghost Precision, Strike Ind.), grips (Icarus, Mirzon) etc. and not "invalidating ____ perfection ".

The P320/P365 a little more difficult to armor IMO...personally more time on the Glock...probably guys now who work them regularly are GTG.

Just curious, do you guys that are issued optics-ready guns also get issued optics?

No for the Orange County Sheriff's Dept.

They now issue Gen 5 G17 MOS with a Surefire X300U-B weapon mounted light.

You can/must buy your own Red Dot Sight (from an approved list) and Suppressor height night sights if you want to carry the Red Dot Sight. You also must take a class for it before you can carry on duty.

We are now seeing folks entering the academy with agency sponsored pistols equipped with mounted optics. This is the future - threat/target focused like throwing rocks/sticks/knives/spears and shooting old timey sling shots, long bows, crossbows etc.

No amount of gear will help you with a smooth, linear trigger press that does not disturb your pistol alignment...that comes from reps - dry fire training and confirmed by live fire.

The addition of battery powered pistol optics will require maintenance and optic down skill development - similar to how we evolved with rifles.

Yes, our Gen 5 G17's and P320's are coming with RMR Type 2's.
