    P320 and G17 GEN5

Anyone had a chance to compare G17 and P320? Would like to hear opinions.

    Ive had both.
Very different and I prefer the p320 more.
I use the p320 in the military and the gen4 g17 at work and my accuracy is way better with the p320. (M17 that is)

I have both. I prefer the 320 personally.

I love the modularity of the grip modules. Also, they recoil sorta strangely, and they return to the sights a lot easier for me.

Keep in mind, I've never been a glock guy. Prior to 320, I carried M&P.

You aren't to far from me. You are more than welcome to give them a try. All my guns are RDS equipped though.

Both are great. I can fire the p320 with more precision, but i can fire the glock faster and still get good hits. Gen 5 trigger is an improvement over gen 3 and 4.

This is EXACTLY what I am experiencing. I got a full size P320 PROFFESIONAL SERIES and I compared it to my off duty Gen5 G19.

G17 for me. Don't get me wrong, the 320 is nice. My agency just went to the 320 AXG. Coming from 40 cal P series sigs, I would've preferred to just go to a 9mm 229/226 or even a Glock. The reality of it is they are both great service pistols, it'll boil down to personal preference, one doesn't necessarily outperform the other.

Your agency went with full size AXG PRO?

So you have a P320 and a G19 (albeit not a G17) and you want opinions on them? Wouldn’t you be ideally set up for opinions on the two guns that you already have? I don’t think anyone else’s opinions could sway the opinions you already have. Am I missing something?

I seem to shoot G19 better when doing speed drills but shoot P320 better slow fire. Just currios what other shooters experience who shoot/own both guns. PS. You are not missing anything.

I have a Glock 17 Gen 3 and Wilson Combat P320. They are both good for me. I carry Glock 17 as my CCW pistol. I just do not bother to change to a different pistol.

                        P320 blows the glock away.

We went with the AXG Classic 9mm with black grips. We also bought large/polymer grip modules for the folks with larger hands.

I've carried both on patrol and convinced our agency to start issuing the P320 after having our admin shoot the gun. I think both platforms are equally reliable and both will do well in a duty capacity. For a lot of agencies/individuals the P320 offers a higher degree of flexibility with the easily replaceable grip modules and slides.

I ran the G17 and P320 on a shot timer to compare the accuracy and speed of effective hits on target. I spent a two full days on the range running various drills to test my skillset with the guns. I can consistently shoot the G17 with slightly faster split times but am inherently more accurate with the P320 with a smaller overall group.

Based on that testing I continued to carry the P320 as a duty gun as the faster split times with the G17 were marginal.

I'm reminded of these two clips:

I have both, and I tend more towards the "it's a tool" camp. My department originally issued the P226 so that's what I trained with although I originally disliked DA/SA triggers. Then we switched to G17s, and now P320s. I try to maximize my ability with what's in front of me rather than wish for something I didn't have.

I think they're both great pistols and each has their advantages. Hard to go wrong with either.
