LEO ar pistol built

I built my upper with a barrel off ar15.com and a receiver I had. 10.5" stainless with miculek style brake and ff handguard with reflex sight. It is my Alaska carry gun when fishing. 20 rounds. 18 for the bear 1 for fattest fisherman nearby to feed bear and if bears keeps coming one for me.

So,can it be any lower DROS'd as a pistol or does it have to be shipped/marked "pistol" only from a supplier?

Any as long as when you dros it it is mark as a pistol category handgun.

Are you able to purchase a complete AR Pistol and have it shipped to your local FFL and register it as a pistol.....if your LEO??

Im FFL does. They were showing me the sig ar pstol but they were expensive as hell. I think im going to order a draco ak pistol soon.

Keep in mind that, in order to be CA legal, it needs to operate using a fixed 10 or less round magazine and fixed magazine solutions for AK style firearms is limited when compared to AR style firearms.


Current, CA legal AK fixed magazine solutions:
a. AK MagLatch with modified AK magazine.
b. AK CompMag.
c. Weld a metal 10 round magazine into the magazine well.

Absolutely as long as your FFL is willing to do it. We just got one of those new Maxim defense pistols in for a LEO customer

It needs to have the compmag on it before it crosses the CA border unless the receiving FFL has an assault weapons permit.

CA FFL dealer with an assault weapons permit can not legally modify assault weapons into non-assault weapons in order to transfer them.
^Doing so violates the terms of having an assault weapons permit and can result in permit revocation & inventory confiscation.

Therefore...
If it's an operational firearm, then it needs to be made CA legal prior to being imported into CA.
If it's a stripped or complete receiver, then it can be made CA legal after it has been imported into CA.

Which means for your Draco, it needs to have the AK CompMag installed before it is imported into CA or it needs to be disassembled into parts and only the stripped receiver is shipped to your CA FFL dealer & the rest of the parts are shipped directly to you & you are responsible for installing the AK CompMag, after it is DROS'd and before you assemble it.

Most leos wont sell their pistol built ar.

if a LEO built the pistol. he cannot sell it. he is not a manufacturer and that will come back to him.

LEOs. dont forget if you built your pistol not only do you need the mag lock on it. but you also must have it as a single shot!
