Just thought I'd mention I'm having surgery #21 on Tues. April 30. In 2011, I had a nuerostimulator implant put in my back to help relieve some of the chronic back pain due to my 4 back surgeries. I knew eventually the battery would die and I'd have to have another surgery. That time has come and tho it's more invasive, I've opted to have a new device put in rather than a simple battery exchange. The new one will allow a MRI, whereas the one I have doesn't.
The reason it's more invasive is the dr. is doing a laminotomy, which means he'll enter my back where my back scar is now. He will remove some scar tissue so he can place the paddles of the leads beneath my spine. This will prevent any migration of the leads.
In a few weeks, I'll have an MRI to determine if I need a right shoulder replacement or rotator cuff repair. The first surgery is work related, the second isn't. The second will be in July as I have to wait at least 3 months due to the risk of infection.
So, please wish me luck for the surgery I'm having on Tuesday. Thanks everyone. Take care.

let them do what they do best. Each and every person in that o.r team works for you and you alone on that particular time. It might not be obvious to you but even before they put you on that o.r table they have check and double check all the o.r equipments and your chart for recent labs and findings. All the best!
