It is all subjective from the person conducting the test. If he/she "feels" that you conducted research they may grill you longer, or so

I think you meant to say that they are not admissible in court.
And it does all depend on the operator. I know of people that have passed 4 and then failed one giving the exact same answers. Only the operator was different.

Just relax, but don't try to control your breathing.

Like others said, you may be asked if you have done anything to prepare for the polygraph. You'll likely be asked the same question multiple times.

At the end, you may be asked which question/answer you felt produced the largest "spike" on the polygraph machine. The operator is essentially asking you which question you have a guilty conscience over and may continue to grill you over that topic.

Keep in mind OP, a polygraph cant tell whether you're lying or telling the truth. It is simply there to coerce an admission or confession. Just be truthful and consistent.

ETA: Finally, it really isn't anything to stress about, especially if you don't have things to hide. Come Saturday evening, you'll be looking back at it thinking "That wasn't so bad".

        Dear California,
I love you. I was born and raised in you. You have given me some of the best times of my life. Now with that said, I can not wait to move!

          Hey guys,

The person that conducted my Polygraph wants every ones name that replied in this thread as well as addresses. I'm kidding guys, the polygraph went well I think. He told me he thinks I don't have anything to worry about from what he could see. There where a couple questions that may have had a response but it was possible that they are so subtle it would be passed right along. Over all I feel confident about it all because I was honest. So thanks once again to all of those who chimed in. Thanks.

Have him contact me here. All I remember you saying was something about your close relationship with animals and limited use of cocaine and heroine. You should be fine.

Seriously, I'm glad it went smooth.

polygraph is an interrogation tool. that is. I had done one intense polygraph with a senior FBI agent from Washington DC, it was about 3 hours test and 3 hours interrogation questions. Well, nothing was surprising as long as you are truthful( but the SA kept saying all my replies were BS, lol.)

                Luis560ar15,

Looks like you have done the examination already. Did you get your actual final results (from the agency) yet?

Just putting out some info for everyone:

Being prepared and doing some research is normal and I encourage it. There is a lot of bad info out there and sometimes the bad info gets people hung up during the examination. When asked if you researched the PG, be honest.

Being honest and letting the agency decide if they can handle any of the Examinee's potential baggage is always the best way to go.

I have seen a lot of examines with TONS of baggage pass the examination and become awesome cops. Most agencies are very forgiving to applicants who are willing to disclose their past poor decisions. You just need to give the agency the chance to move you forward.

If caught lying, the agency will most likely not pick you up. Again, tell the truth and let them decide if they want you.

Questions about the PG and the process are welcome. Just send me a PM and Ill answer what I can. I am happy to help and ease some concerns.

Please be forewarned, I will not debate with anyone if a PG works. I do this for a living and I believe in it.

Is a PG the same as a CVSA?

SVSA (Computer Voice Stress Analyst) is not the same. It records the stress of someone's voice to determine truth or deception.

                      ^^
I have already taken the PG. I still have not received "official" results. After my PG I was told my charts looked good and didnt have anything to worry about.

I have finished my background and waiting for a conditional offer. So I am assuming I passed since my BG investigator submitted my packet along with the results of the PG. I was honest through out the whole process so it is all out of my hands.

I should have a response by this week ( I hope). I can not tell you how excited I am. So far no news is great news. Advance apologies for this format or misspellings. I am using my phone and can only see two sentences at a time as I type.

Also thanks for offering to answer any questions I may have. You guys are truly awesome!
