Probably not a good idea for two rooks to be together IMO.

Don't they typically go with an OG and a Rook in most cases?

if there are 9000 officers, then your chances are about 9000:1

Agreed. I was talking down the road, when they have been P-2's for awhile. When they get out of the academy they will be with a P-3 (fto) for awhile. once they are off probation, and supervisors feel that they are ready, they would be assigned with another P-2. This could be a year or more after graduating from the academy. But, they could very well be assigned to the jail for awhile too. If they are still doing that.

If both of you get hired, and graduate the academy, you have a good chance that you can work together. All officers can have a chance to transfer to the assignment of their choice, and eventually you can work together.. My old patrol partner was not my friend to begin with, but we became good friends afterwards. 23 years after I transferred out, I am retired, and he will retire next year, but we still talk and get together.

The problem is that the department usually breaks apart partners after they work together for a while.

I saw husband and wife work at the same station, also, but not together.

Did you just make a homo sexual slur or a slur about firefighters.....
            "We are Firemen"???

Me and my friend are thinking about joining LAPD together and since we are going live together for prob the first year (Seperate rooms of course... I mean if anybody ever thinks..m..we are firemen...no).

I'm pretty sure its a statement that they are not a couple or corrupt couple.

But yes as everyone stated. People living together can work in the same department. My professor who works as a staff sergeant is married to someone who works as a detective. However, I'm pretty sure you can't just get married on the job.

I guess I'm just not accepting this Millennial Generation very well.

The last question I would have ever asked in a Cop Forum, was the Op's.

The crap I'm hearing and seeing makes me sick.

Just time for me to go.

In case you didn't catch it, your question is insulting.
I don't think a "proactive" cop exists anymore since the iPhone, BLM and Ferguson. Instead, I see REACTIVE cops now daily and I don't blame any of the young crowd streets cops at all. Career survival has seriously changed.

there are many coppers in the LAPD who transferred to a division off probation and partnered up with a classmate. many of them still roll together and work great. when you're two fresh p2's roaming around a new division you think you're doing awesome police work; about 5 years later you realize how many mistakes both of you made that could've went high and to right and will laugh about it.

go for it. you don't get transferred to a new division together get some time on, and make it work shortly after

Yes. He should not ask any questions other than what will happen in the immediate future. Ridiculous assumptions. No wonder we can't get anyone to do this job.

This thread is much ado about nothing... OP just asked if he and his friend could work together at the same agency. If he showed up to the academy or FTO and that was his only concern; flame on. But he didn't; he was asking on a web forum for guns with a sub-forum for LEO's... Seems like a fair enough question and one that could be asked here INSTEAD of at LAPD where it may very much sound like putting the cart before the horse....

So OP, yes, you and your friend may eventually be able to work the same car/assignment.

If I went into the Calgunners In Service forum and asked if me and a buddy could eventually serve in the same unit and go 10-8 to kill terrorists, I would rightfully be crucified.

You see, there are people that take the dues they paid to get to their current units (Military and LE) very seriously. In the process they lost friends and have seen crap that would make a goat puke. Having some millennial come and ask if he and a buddy can go 10-8 because they only have one car and are roomies is F^&*%ing insulting.
