FWIW You should be carrying a G43 with +P 9mm for your backup. Plenty of +2 magazine extensions that work reliably (Taran, Vickers, SI...) so that gives you 9 cartridges of 9 to work with if you really need that backup.

I currently carry an m&p 9 compact that holds 12+1 and a Taylor freelance 28 round spare mag. However I like the reliability and compfort of a 2 inch revolver. The contact shots without jamming and low maintenance makes it more appealing. But I'd have to give up capacity though.

So what? Are you saying that you think you're ENTITLED to some sort of discount just because many shops offer discounts as a courtesy? I'm sorry but the only thing I see wrong with your story is the fact that you were offended by his answer.

Another LGS, out of business too, had a clerk that was a big time cop wannabe. Once he found out I was LEO he told me how LAPD, LASD, CHP and everyone else would not hire him because he was a white male.
I'm sorry but your reply was very convoluted.

Please explain why you think you were entitled to a police discount? If the manager offered it then you could accept it...but if you asked for it then that is asking for a special discount and most departments frown upon that as it usually violates a Code of Conduct.

Also your rush to answer in this thread made your answer very hard to understand. Please go over and re-read what you wrote. Edit and correct.

I don't currently work for any agency but, what does that have to do with anything. I have worked for a LEA in the past and come from a family that includes many LEOs.

LGS clerk's attitude aside, firearms QC has gone down and LGS's don't check firearms before pulling them off the shelves for you. That's why you inspect them before buying, which you did. It's out of the LGS's control.

I've seen a number of firearms coming in with rust, missing parts, timing issues, etc... Even GLOCK's blue labels come this way at times. My favorite moment was when the rear sight popped off after clearing the firearm out of the box.

Probably not so much anti-LE, just an AH, but there is a explanation that you might understand as a LEO.

Many people don't like LEO because of how their job requires them to behave. Its not that LEOs don't want to be helpful, its that they are always on guard against someone manipulating them into some sketchy course of action, and they gotta always be ready for some loon to start a fight.

Likewise, LGS clerks gotta worry about several things other clerks don't, mostly since they can't run full background on who walks in and wants to play with an fairly expensive small item w/legal issues, as well as all the crazy gun laws and customers trying to outsmart the LGS and govt.

Plus the LGS clerk has to now worry that as a LEO you might bust him for some violation, or use your LE clout to pressure him some how.

Its like my African American buddy who dropped out of a military academy because they were "racist". Then I got family looks like a Waffen SS recruiting poster, and who became an officer via ROTC, was on being offered fast promotion and had nothing to TERRIBLE things to say about US military and bailed at first chance. They treat everyone like crap, just to be crappy, and they are all the worst sort of petty back stabbing AHs of the highest order, according to him.

Almost all of the best shooters in the country are what you would call "civilian".

Best thing I ever did was find a good local kitchen table dealer. No drama, low prices, and great customer service.

In this day and age of e-commerce, you can get a great price just about anywhere if you know what you want.

Update on this thread: Today I finally found the exact revolver I was looking for. No quality control issues and no defects. The gun shop I went to served both Leo and civilians customers. The salesman were very welcoming and quick when doing my DROs. Good customer service and very professional.

Adamsons! I was trying to remember the name of that place. Only been there twice for a PPT but they were great and I am not LEO. Seller was. I wonder if they'd let me back in?
