That case can be easily made by looking at every gun-related crime to be prosecuted since gun laws existed.Originally posted by OneintheholeI realize that. I am simply attempting to make a case that these laws don't make sense.
It doesn't matter... smarter people than us have taken this before the courts.- Rich

Is your goal a school project, or preparing something for a court challenge?
The difference would be whether I would say "Don't bother"
But yes, by simple virtue of the criminal act, the criminal is not compliant.
I provided video to the local PD of a robbery victim being beaten by a 30rd Glock magazine after it fell from the gun (thank God it was not properly inserted, otherwise the victim would have died when the trigger was pulled with the gun against his head)
Robbery is illegal - Criminals do not comply
Using a gun in a crime is illegal (10 year enhancement!) - Criminals do not comply
Murder is illegal - Criminals do not comply
Criminals do not believe that they will be caught. They are using unregistered/or stolen guns that can't be traced to them except through fingerprints.
Seriously not trying to be a smartass... but it's a no-brainer that gun laws do very little to reduce crime. Chicago and Oakland will show that.- Rich

Are you serious?I'm not LEO. I just wanted to ask these questions to LEOs that actually witness it first hand.
This mainly focuses on the gangsters/thugs who actively break laws. The career criminals.
How often are criminals compliant with CA gun laws?
How often do their rifles have bullet buttons?
How often do they have magazines that hold over 10 rounds?
I saw all kinds of guns, both CA compliant and illegal assault weapons, quite frequently.Comment

I've seen both compliant and non compliant. The compliant ones are usually left at home though. Gangsters and "thugs" know better than to use their own guns for crimin'. The compliant ones I've taken were the result of search warrants. Street guns are usually stolen and large majority are handguns because rifles are harder to conceal.Comment

It's an assured destruction doctrine...if the criminal is at a tactical disadvantage where their non-compliance will lead to their destruction, then they are compliant.
e.g. if they think they can lie and get off, then it is in their interest to be compliant...of feign compliance until they can actively resist/flee."Bruen, the Bruen opinion, I believe, discarded the intermediate scrutiny test that I also thought was not very useful; and has, instead, replaced it with a text history and tradition test." Convicted felons are not required to register their guns. It's a violation of their 5th amendment rights.
The original Haynes decision continues to block state prosecutions of criminals who fail to register guns as required by various state law gun registration schemes.Constitutionally, officials cannot license or register a fundamental right.

YesOriginally posted by OneintheholeMaybe I should be asking this:
Have you ever confiscated a fully CA compliant rifle from a gang member?Stay classy, CGF and Calguns.Originally posted by bwiese[BTW, I have no problem seeing DEA Agents and drug cops hanging from ropes, but that's a separate political issue.]Comment

Yep. Nice liberal interpretation of the 5th amendment. As long as we are protecting the felon's rights, we are doing good for society. The age of the victim criminal is upon us.Convicted felons are not required to register their guns. It's a violation of their 5th amendment rights.
