CHP Graduation Gift

My older brother will hopefully be graduating from the CHP academy in about two weeks. I was looking to get him a graduation gift and was wondering if guys/gals can give me any good ideas?

First thing I thought of was a good high quality knife. I know I used my knife a lot, scraping reg tags, cutting things open etc.
A knife with a solid pocket clip and easy to open with one hand.
I carried a Kershaw spring assisted, but any of the Spiderco's, Benchmade etc would be used a lot.

Good Knife, Good flashlight or Good off duty carry gun if you have the $. Of course maybe just the cash or gift card at gun store so he can get a better off roster gun.

I second that. I used Streamlight SL-20X. Now, they make it in LED. He will use flashlight more than a knife for sure.

The state issued flashlight, while excellent, is large. I carry a Streamlight Strion on my belt & have the state light as backup. Just a thought.

Check out Spiderco's "police" model knife in stainless. I still carry mine with 27 years on!

Also a METAL (anodized black aluminum) Streamlight SL-20X flashlight.

I'd say a good solid watch like a G-Shock Rangeman. Something that'll take a licking and keep on ticking.

That model has the most bang for your buck too.

I'd be willing to bet it might last him whole career even if with all the abuse an officer is likely to put it through.
