Ffl transfer with "high cap" magazine

Asking as a leo. If i acquire an off roster pistol that comes with 10+ rd mag, can i receive it at my local ffl when i dros it? I was told the ffl needs to do a safety demo and require a mag to do that. So if i cant legally have the 10+ rd mag, i guess its no go. Any advice appreciated.

As SVT-40 asked, “what’s the issue”? Active LEO’s in California can legally import, buy and possess new high capacity magazines. Based on your original and follow up post, I do not understand what issue you are seeking to address. LEO's can buy off roster guns as well as high capacity magazines. Why would you not be able to DROS a gun with high capacity magazines included?

Are you in fact a California LEO covered by section 830 of the California Penal code?

As long as your FFL has the large capacity mag permit it should be fine if you are in fact a peace officer as defined by 830 PC.

My shop does that all of the time with LEO's. Non issue.

When I bought my new blue label discounted Glock from a lgs, they said they don't come with the hi-cap mag (they switched all 3 mags to 10-rounders) but I don't recall why. That's why I ask the question if it has something to do with Glock's blue label program, or is it a state law. I have my answer now, thank you.

If the gun store switched out the high capacity magazines for 10 rounders, you got ripped off. No reason for them to do that under California or Federal law, unless they do not have a high capacity permit from California.

If it were me, I would go back and pointedly ask them why.

Yes. I am a badged deputy working under dhs. I don't purchase many firearms so pardon my ignorance. I assume if the lgs allows me to purchase the blue label, that means i am leo.

I think a Federal LEO (which I presume DHS qualifies) is Roster Exempt, but not Large-Cap Mag Exempt (for purchase) ... or something along those lines.

Deputy What? Makes a huge difference. A Deputy US Marshal would qualify.

DHS? Department of Homeland Security? Department of Hospital Services (a state agency)

Abbreviations and acronyms mean different things to different people and agencies.
