Funny thing about that article... I can't get federal prosecutors to charge a guy with 10lbs of meth, but they will hang a cop out to dry for buying and selling guns. Funny how that works... Oh and that's the same DOJ/ATF that sent guns to Mexico that probably got hundreds or thousands of people killed.

Sorry, end rant. OP, good luck with the scenario with the wife. I know a few guys at work that might be interested depending on your location (LEOs). Just FYI, you can't ship off roster firearms (learned that recently myself). My station is in southern Riverside county.

I must be odd then . I was issued a Glock 22 and I also bought a Glock 22 (and a 27, a 23, and 35). Ended up liking my Glock 35 the most, so have been carrying that for a few years. When I went in to have the armory check out my G35 and sign off for me to carry on duty, they said "nice G35, have fun carrying it. Now, give us back our department issued Glock 22".

By the way, I don't think anyone cared if I wanted to shoot my issued Glock 22 for practice in the desert, in Arizona, Utah, etc. I don't think they cared what ammo we shot for practice. They just cared that the gun was clean, functional, no modifications, etc. when carried on duty and that we only carried agency issued/approved ammo while on duty.

I usually only carry the G35 on duty or in my car. I really don't carry it concealed. The only reason I don't carry it concealed is that I don't have a concealed holster for it. I find it pretty easy to carry a longer slide/barrel concealed (I do have a G20 on my CCW that I carry concealed in a Bianchi IWB holster). In my opinion, the length of the grip is really what makes a gun harder to conceal (more than the barrel length). I used to carry a G27 concealed, but always used the magazines with a grip extension. I then realized that the G27 with the grip extension was just as long as the grip of a G23. I go rid of my G27 and have been carrying a G23 ever since, as I would rather have the slightly longer barrel and the extra magazine capacity.

Really? Almost everybody I work with have personally-owned duplicates of city-issued guns. Not unusual in the least.
