Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I recently had this same question answered by a local assault rifle dealer. They essentially said it's possible, but a complete hassle. I was told I'd have to bring my rifle to the dealer and leave it with them. I'd then have to mail in the "no longer in possession" form off the DOJ website. Once the DOJ receives it and mails back the confirmation, then the rifle can be converted by the FFL. At that point, you'd get your letter, take it back to the FFL, and pay the fees. They convert it and you walk out with the registration paperwork. It's a multi month process due to the DOJ wait time. The dealer was RifleGear in fountain valley.
