I was asked,"have you ever done anything like having sex with an animal?" I told them I had no clue what that even meant. Might've been same agency as Jeffhog, same voice stress analysis at least.

All tests can be beaten. There are ways. You think every badge out there was a saint prior to being sworn in? I know a bunch who weren't. I also know a lot of guys who got so nervous they flunked their tests just because of nerves. No department wants a guy who spins out under stress. They're bad on scene and even worse in front of lawyers.

If you need suggestions on how to streamline background investigations and lie detector type tests pm me.

      You should be.
I'm a lawful individual. I can't say I've never committed a crime but I can say with 100% confidence I have never done anything that would warrant arrest or detainment if a policeman was following me around 24/7.

Don't piss off the examiner. If she/he wants to make it look like you lied, that's how it is going to come out. I've been told that by more than one full-time LEO examiner. There is a lot of Kentucky windage in that process.

The tests have limitations, but the examiners tend to be top-shelf interviewers, so don't try to outsmart them. They have all the advantages, no matter how clever you think you are.

Don't even consider lying about unimportant issues. Most potential employers can tell the difference between what matters and what doesn't, and they don't care about silly little things.

One of the top-tier federal agencies adopted a zero tolerance policy on drug use some years ago, to include casual experimentation with weed. Zero tolerance.

Problem was, their squeaky clean new recruits were wandering around their new environment like strangers in a strange land, incapable of relating to witnesses, defendants, other agents, even prosecutors who were less than pure as the driven snow.

They had to abandon that policy. You spent a few nights in Zona Norte? You smoked a little weed? We're hiring human beings over here, not characters from a Disney movie.

You got caught lying?!?! Whole different story. Nobody can trust a liar. Good luck in your next job choice!

I failed a polygraph 3 times in a row with LAPD and passed 2, with 2 other agencies and a voice stress analysis test with another. Glad I failed LAPD, I really didn't want to work there and was just trying to get a foot in the door....

My last trip with a Poly was a 3 hour ordeal . . . You will spend a good amount of time just question and answer before the "test" begins.

You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you want . . .don't be afraid to tell the examiner it is your first poly and that you have concerns . . . you don't want to hide ANYTHING! Your anxiety over "the test" can create a false flag over important stuff.

As ANYTHING in Law Enforcement, my 1st Academy instructor told it straight on DAY ONE, "You Lie, You die" That is true ANYWHERE in the process from first interview and document until you depart the profession.

              Good Luck

Was subjected to and passed both a polygraph and a CVSA. Easy peasy. If what you wrote on your PHS is the truth then there's absolutely nothing to worry about.
