There is a lot of knowledge about the department floating around these forums. I'd ask away.

Well, once again (at least at this point in the thread), I seem to be the oldest one at the party. Class #180, late June of 1976. I will have been retired 12 years on 3-31 and God willing, will be 65 on 4-20 (yeah, I know about the bad things, including Hitler's Bday on that date).

Good luck OP and enjoy your Use of Force lecture; your instructor is a good guy.

Good to know there's quite a few of you vets hanging around here. Thanks for the kind words everyone. I'll definitely pay attention during the use of force lecture.

I think based on the posts above it is some sort of police academy dealie. Sounds pretty cool, and good luck to the OP. My sources tell me it is all kinds of fun. Starting soon would be ideal because you get the added benefit of being there during the summer months. The grinder is just not the grinder unless you have visible heat waves radiating from the blacktop, with your shoes nearly being sucked off your feet by sticky asphalt while you march.

Everyone always says to study, do P.T., etc to prepare. I'll tell you what is really important: Don't forget to lock your briefcase!! And your car!! I've also heard it is wise to avoid wearing garishly colored suits or white patent leather dress shoes with big gold pirate buckles on the first day. One would think that it would be appropriate to show up with a Miami-Vice inspired peach blazer over a tight blue muscle shirt, with white cargo pants and sockless leather casuals, but the instructors will NOT be pleased. Feathered, windblown hair with highlights and tortoise shell wayfarers are also NOT advised. A Ferrari should be OK but make sure you can fit at least 3 other carpool partners in there with you.

Good luck OP. I was recently denied after 4 Polys due to "conscientiousness" whatever that means, maybe it looked as if I was falling asleep.

Thanks! Yea, my buddy told me to always keep my doors locked. He told me that when he went to do range excersises, someone left their doors unlocked and someone took everything out of their car and put it ontop of their roof lol. I'll make sure to bring my Ferrari FF

Thanks! Wow, 4 times? I'm sorry to hear that man. Just keep at it and you'll get yours. It took me almost 3 years to even land this gig.

Bobby, you forgot to mention making sure your locker in the gym is locked too.
