i left august 22nd and got to oklahoma on august 23. I have 0 regrets. sold a house that had 18 years left on the mortgage and paid cash for a bigger one. I wake up everyday glad i got out. the towns nice, folks are awesome and i havent witnessed any crime yet. hopefully you picked a nice city and love it but there was nothing california had for me thjat could ever get me back. when gas is 2.55 and you can get a 26 ounce steak for 20 bucks, its easy to enjoy life more and travel. good luck brother and i hope you too love it. And yes i bought 3 "off rosters guns" in 3 days lol.

We moved to the Treasure Valley in 2022. No regrets at all. We live about 45 minutes southwest of the airport.

Eagle is clean, relatively newer and on the higher end of house prices. There is a large ex-Ca population there. Something like 80% of out of state CalPers checks go to Eagle. Good location, you can be most anywhere in the valley in 20-30 minutes or so. Traffic is considerable, especially during commute hours. Like anywhere, we have our share of really bad drivers. Lots of food, shopping and things to do nearby.

Gun culture here is great. There are gun stores everywhere, gun shows almost every month and Constitutional carry is nice. Getting an enhanced CCW is super easy (allows for carry in more places, avoids background checks on in store purchases and most people want to see that for FTF parking lot purchases). Check out ZIdaho.com...pretty good marketplace for guns.

Gas prices, property taxes and vehicle registrations are markedly lower here. Lots of outdoor activities here. It's a four season climate and you can't let the weather slow you down. Depending on what your interests are, there is probably something that you will enjoy. Lots of good wineries, numerous shows, sporting events, offroad riding, hunting, fishing, you name it.

The biggest thing is there is still a lot of anti-CA sentiments here. Change your license plates asap, don't bring CA mentality here, listen a lot, be nice to people and you won't have any issues. Most of the people we talk to either are from CA or if they are native Idahoian, have been okay once they realized we were not "those" Californians.

If you have more questions, you can PM me if you want.

Star Idaho, here. Moved here 5 years ago, wish I'd done it sooner. Any questions, PM.

Spot on. To add: if you enjoy kayaking / whitewater rafting, this could be the best state there is. Not to mention that almost 2/3 of our state is public land. I came to this valley from Kansas back in 1974, and I find it amusing and ironic that so many Idaho "natives" resent Californians moving here, but they sure don't have any problem taking their money!

If you're into fishing, hit me up. I have some good Kokanee and trout trolling spots, but no boat.

Lots of boating on the Snake - mostly for duck hunting or fishing. Jet boats are useful there.
