My thoughts after escaping Hellifornia one year ago...

I am 62 years old. I lived my entire life in CA. One year ago, I moved to Idaho. Hands down, it was the best decision of my life. I can't tell you how much happier I am. I finally live in a place where my government does not hate me.

Of course, the gun situation is day and night. No CCW necessary. Carry what you want, where you want. Buy ammo online or at the store and take it to the counter yourself. Buy any handgun you want and walk out with it in 20 minutes. Take the ridiculous fins and muzzlebrakes off your AR15s. I just bought a suppessor. Every single person on my street owns guns and shoots. We get together as a neighborhood and everyone talks guns, even the wives. Garandthumb lives just up the street from me. I can literally go shooting across the street. The state sponsors shooting ranges. They want you to shoot. Also, I have never seen so many gunstores in one area in all my life. I can think of 15 just off the top of my head. I used to belong to a great shooting range (West End Gun Club). It was about $340ish a year. My current club is $45. That is practically free. Instead of battling the 91 and 15 freeways for 1-2 hours, I drive along the Payette River for 40 minutes. I don't even go the speed limit it is so beautiful. Why rush?

But, it is not just the guns that are better. I told my wife when we first got here, "We didn't move to Idaho, we moved to 1950." People here are decent. There is no homeless. Actually, I saw one bum / homeless (I hate that term). The cops made her move. People let you in when you drive. No one honks at you. I have not honked once in an entire year. I drive down the street in my neighborhood, and people wave at me. It freaked me out at first. Now, I do it too. People here seem happy. If you go 5 mph over the speed limit, a sheriff will pull you over. Laws are not just a suggestion here. There is no graffiti. Almost everthing here is less expensive, except food (its the same). Gas is over a $1 a gallon cheaper. My auto insurance decreased by over 50%, my electricity bill is 1/4 of what it was before. When they told me my property tax and home insurance cost, I just giggled. It is thousands of dollars less expensive.

If you are tired of being targeted by the communists in Lucifornia, I highly recommend escaping. Life is short. Throughout history, people have fled evil regimes for freedom and lived happier lives.

If you decide to come here, vote RED. Actually, please vote dark red, burgundy maroon so we keep it that way.

Bet you can't surf and ski in the same day though!
There is no week nor day nor hour, when tyranny may not enter upon this country, if the people lose their supreme confidence in themselves -- and lose their roughness and spirit of defiance -- Tyranny may always enter -- there is no charm, no bar against it -- the only bar against it is a large resolute breed of men.

Thanks for sharing. Can't get the wife to leave California. We do have a house in Utah, so at least I have one foot out the door.

The locals here despise CA and everything it represents. People race to get their CA license plates off their cars as fast as they can when they make the move. I get it. CA is a disease.

The other day at a stop light, it turned green and the guy ahead of me didn't go. My old CA self would have hit the horn. I didn't do that. I just sat there. He finally went. Around here, you just cut the next guy a little more slack. It is contagious.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Used to be the same here 10 years ago, but it's been changing pretty fast. Remote work has brought in a lot of dick heads.

                Where in Idaho?

We visited for a week in June two years ago to scout the area for a potential move. An agent showed us around Eagle and Meridian and checked Star and other locations. Loved what we saw and really liked the locations backing up on man made lakes/ponds.

Traffic was like the Bay Area however. The rental car had Connecticut plates, and this was noticed as we were followed out of a restaurant by staff to ask where we were from and they did not recognize the plates, odd. I mentioned trouble I was having driving around where people were aggressive when I signaled to merge into lanes. The staff said people drive like **** in the area. Could this be because of the number of California transplants? Noted many CA plates on cars in driveways. Heading to the airport to leave and merging on the freeway I was run off the road by a black guy, crazy.

Did not see graffiti like you mentioned, even under the bridges around the river. Only saw one homeless looking woman walking along a main road and she was mobbed by PD immediately.

Happy to see on the news this week that Eagle voted to not be a sanctuary city and provide funding for illegals. However noted on the news last they had pictures of graffiti with the slogans Californians Suck and Eagle hates Mexicans. The news mentioned this was shocking since graffiti in Eagle is uncommon. Wonder if the perpetrator in a Californian.

If you move to a free state, it's not enough to just vote red. You have to actively participate in politics from volunteering for the Republican party, to monitoring vote counts, and attending all city council meetings and county supervisor meetings. Because we that have moved from communism have to actively prevent what happened in Kalifornia from happening in our new community. We lost Kalifornia because we just voted instead of actively participating. The left actively participates. That's how they win.

I live in Eagle. I saw the same "Californians Suck" graffiti. It was by the Boise River off Eagle Road. It was gone the next day.

Idaho isn't perfect. Eagle Road is the most busy. Sometimes, you sail right through. Other times, you hit some traffic. This area wasn't designed for the increase in the population we have seen. The Boise River limits the number of arteries that can go north. I have seen traffic on the 84 FWY south in the mornings. But, that is it. I don't drive that area.

Eagle is the area to be if you are a conservative. The State Street Saloon recently held "Heterosexual Awesomeness Month" during June. He was flooded with people supporting him. Eagle doesn't hate Mexicans. Or, blacks. There just is not that many of them. Eagle hates wokeness and all the liberalism that destroyed the once great State of CA.

Idaho is still Earth. Therefore, it is not perfect. Maybe it goes to hell too like the rest of the country? Who knows. But, I told my wife when we moved here it is like when Jack and Rose were running to the top of the Titanic. It bought them time.

Like my Idahoan buddy says, come here as a refugee, not a missionary.

The left doesn't come as missionaries, they come as invaders.

Yea, I caught that news report last month with bar patron interviews and was cracking up. My take was the local news guy was not pleased the bar owner was holding this event and that it was so popular.

A guy I worked with had bought property in Nampa and was building a house. I hear he has already retired from the Bay Area and relocated up there for a new job.

When we were going through the Boise Airport, the TSA guy noted I was from California. He stated he was from the Bay Area, retired fire fighter and retired to Eaglefornia. That got my attention. Speaking with my work HR, I was informed many California police and fire types retire to Boise and the Eagle area. Caught some Bay Area news reports lately on this as well. Not sure what to think of this. Would hate move up there only to a mafia of ex California cops be successful in getting carry and other guns laws changed to be more like Nevada and California.
