Sig did you ever get this resolved?
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Try Smith Enterprise Inc. in Tempe. They are THE M1A/M14 gunsmiths

Leader in weapons upgrades for over 40 years

          M1A gunsmith in southern AZ?

Ok my reading comprehension is low, sorry about that.

If you are willing to buy another front sight blade you can keep it on the flash hider for when you are in a free state and keep them as a unit.

If you can get a hold of a flash hider with a front sight blade already where you are at, that would be ideal. Any gunsmith or armorer can assemble them but you can too, I?m telling ya. Since you are going to a competition, might be a good idea to get one that is reamed to NM specs (bigger hole) they seem to be more accurate.

The one at KeepShooting for $40 is, though it is cast and made in Taiwan. Works better than my USGI that isn?t reamed out does. You?d still need the front sight blade. I?m telling you, with a brass or plastic tipped punch and a vise, you can do it!

Forceman might already have one ready to go, he?s local to Rio Salado. Lots of other helpful people on M14 Forums, much wisdom and willingness to help there.

Once assembled, you would just need a small 7/64? allen wrench and castle nut pliers to switch them out. It?s a super easy task at that point.

Bigger hole? My front sight doesn't have any holes.

Are you talking about the rear sight? I might already have a NM rear. It has the hood that can be turned to adjust .5 moa, or whatever it is. I bought it used, so I don't know the specs. I got the box with it, but it was stolen in one of the many burglaries I've had.

He's talking about the flash hider. The hole the bullet passes through is reamed to a larger diameter than mil-spec on match rifles. Basically, you can just buy a flash hider/sight assembly and spin it on with castle nut pliers.
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

That sounds expensive and I'm cheap. Plus I have vision just barely this side of Ray Charles. As in, a flash hider isn't going to matter for me.

Probably costs the same as having a gunsmith do it for you.

M1A is a money pit. Bad gun to have if you are a cheapskate. Ask me how I know. I feel like a boat owner. I?d offer to give you a complete assembly if I had one in the parts bin. Forceman might have one, and like Big Boss Man said, getting a gunsmith to drift off your front sight blade and put it on your flash hider will probably cost you the same as buying an assembly.

Meh, I haven't spent anything on my gun other than magazines, until I had to buy a muzzle brake to bring it into kali. When I had almost decent vision I got sub 2 inch groups with M118. Which is now unobtanium. That really hurt when my stash of that stuff was stolen. Thankfully I got some of it back when they threw the bastid back into prison.

I don't want a cast chinese part, where should I look for a complete flash hider?

Wait, so it came with the flash hider? Do you still have it? Did you take the front sight blade of the flash hider and switch it to the brake?

Hey don?t knock the Taiwanese cast part. It works and is cheap.

Based on your criteria, I?d ask in the M14 Forums, someone might have what you are looking for. There are no online stores I know of that advertise the two parts assembled. You might try calling up Smith Enterprise, Fulton Armory, LR B or Springfield and ask them if they can assemble the two parts before they ship it out to you.

Ooh! I found this when I was looking for a flash hider.

It's a YHM silencer mount. There seems to be a gas in the face issue though.

I paid a gunsmith to do it.
