Almost there, just 3 more days!

Closed escrow on the place here in Southern California on Dec. 20. Negotiated a free rent back until the 15th of this month.

Got driver's licenses and registered all the vehicle in South Dakota. Set up the travel trailer in Hurricane, Utah 3 weeks ago. We will be considered full time travelers until we find our new home in Montana or who knows where.

Sold the safes and almost all of the furniture. Loading the trucks, Jeep and everything else going in enclosed trailer and Saturday we head back to Hurricane to start our new lives.

It feels really good to tell California F You!!!!!

Nice, congrats! Wish we can leave this enemy state and move back to America, job and large family right now. Hope in the future. Happy travels!

Congratulations. I did the same thing 3 years ago last month. I too had no property to go to.
I just came to the area in AZ that I wanted to live in and found a place within a month.
Never been happier, freer, and more relaxed in my life.

Congrats! Welcome to freedom. In Hurricane, you'll be near Warner Valley, which has Dinosaur Tracks State Park. Check it out!

There's nothing like the feeling you get when you can depart an oppressive, filthy, crime ridden, Constitutional lacking piece of you know what for a state. Congratulations for sure.

You also get to miss them doubling taxes and charging you a tax on your solar if you had it. Arizona for us has been like what a freedom loving patriot would expect from his country. I only wish we could have left fifteen years ago.

Be sure to properly notify CA DMV because they love to continue to charge registration fees for years after you leave the state. Then they add penalties and use the Franchise Tax Board to collect their theft.

            You have been officially warned.
CA SUCK can continue after you leave the state.

            OH,
            Congratulations!!!

To avoid ongoing California suckage, open new bank and checking account with a local bank or credit union.

Congratulations. I second the warning above about California franchise tax board and thier extortion. Many of friends who left and my brother had this issue. They fought them for years.

Care to elaborate? What exactly did they try to do to them?

Not that I don't believe you I just have a hard time understanding how that happens if you leave the State and do it correctly.

We made sure to send the DMV a letter in regards to all of our vehicles no longer being in the state. When I asked our local MVD she said they send a registration notification of change of state to the one you moved from.

But sending the letter is a good backup idea. There is also this:

Use our California Moving Guide if you're relocating out of CA. Info on obtaining a new license, title, and plates when moving out of California.

We did not notify DMV when we left. We had no issues whatsoever with any CA state agencies after we left. Moved into our house in ID 09/20. Our old house sold 11/20. We did receive a letter or two about our registration being expired after our cars were registered here. I ignored them and had no other mail from them.
