FYI: The last ffl transfer I did was for free at Independence, even though I bought the rifle from Euro optics. I don't think it was because I am a member.

Member transfers are free. I was enjoying some of the Tuesday night low key matches, but they are on hold due to the flu.

We opened a couple of new credit union accounts when we got to Idaho. No bank or CU balances left in California with > $10. California got their last piece of the pie during escrow for the house we sold there on the coast.

DMV morons wanted registration money for 2 cars after we moved, not to mention a new 3/4 ton diesel that was bought in Idaho and registered with our Idaho address. We didn't respond California's BS.

probably not enough Starbucks for some expats. The road system is going to be strained by the population growth although us retired expats have flexibility. I'll say that road (and home) construction proceeds at a rapid pace versus what I saw in CA over 40 years.

Human Bean and Moxy are better anyway. I used to love Flying M coffee but last time I went into a store they were selling witchcraft books/paraphernalia and had anti Trump stuff everywhere. They also had a sign that said something to the effect of all people welcome unless you are carrying a gun then you can't come in. IDK how they are even in business here. ETA As I was leaving I saw a sign that said something about how they wished all old white people would just die so the world could be a better place. Seriously not even kidding. I was going to close my Golden 1 account and transfer it to ICU but there was some drama where ICU couldn't verify my address or employer so they wouldn't open the account, then I discovered Pioneer and a few other CUs are "Sister" credit unions with Golden 1 so if I need anything I can just walk into one of their branches and they will handle it just like a Golden 1 branch.

CA DMV tried to collect from me as well even after I sent them the proper paperwork showing I had left the PRK. I also just ignored them.

Just had my 2 cars smoged again in Idaho, it always jarring how different the process is. It cost 30.00 total out the door and took around 15 min start to finish for both cars. Would have cost me 28.00 if I had remembered to bring cash to avoid the 1.00 per smog check credit fee.

Congrats on the move OP. A couple of close friends just made the move out to Meridian the weekend before Thanksgiving. ID sure seems like the place to be nowadays!
