    Made it out

After looking and planning on escaping the Bay Area to Sparks for almost 5 years, we closed escrow on a house in Meridian, ID.

Dropped our youngest off at his dorm to begin his intensified indoctrination in late August and decided to get the house on the market. Closed escrow on our CA home 11/6 and 11/16 for our Idahome. Lived in our travel trailer for ten days at a campground.

Haven't done much here outside of unload PODS this week, but it is a great feeling being out of CA and starting our new life and adventures in ID.

Keep an eye out for Newsom mercenaries who will try to link you back to the once great state and suck taxes out of you for a few more years.

Good for you. We close escrow on the house we just bought in Nampa on 12-8. Then it is so long CA. I can not wait.

Senko, welcome to Idaho. Hope you moved up with winter clothes. So far, not enough snow to affect driving, but it's coming sooner or later.

Thanks guys. It will take a while for us to acclimate to the cold that's coming, but I lived in Ogden and SLC, UT for 9 years and the wife is from Michigan. She was actually spending half her time in Bozeman ten years ago when we were moving there before an acquisition.

From what little we have seen this week (grocery store, fast food, retail stores), we absolutely love it and are thankful we found a place to call home. Very welcome customer experience. Not saying it was nonexistent where we used to live, but it was the exception.

Of the three POD's drivers, two were from CA (San Jose and Redondo Beach) third from Montana and my CenturyLink tech was from Costa Mesa. All love it here.

Independence Indoor Shooting is a good range. For outdoors I would definitely join Parma even though it's a bit of a drive. Nampa's membership is wait-listed. There is a free range at Pickle Butte; I've been there once and I'd say give it a try if it's close by, but the membership ranges are inexpensive and provide at least card key security.

No rolling blackouts, roads in good shape, probably not enough Starbucks for some expats. The road system is going to be strained by the population growth although us retired expats have flexibility. I'll say that road (and home) construction proceeds at a rapid pace versus what I saw in CA over 40 years.

It appears both our house and my buddy's the next street over (sold two weeks prior) the buyers were from SF and near SF. Wife's coworker sold in SF and moved to the Oakland Hills. Many are fleeing to the suburbs during the bat flu.
