Suppressor advice needed

I advise my clients not to buy rifle suppressors because they are almost useless. You are trying to tame down a very fast round out of a very short barrel. Makes zero sense. That is like adding mufflers to a nitro funny car.

My buddy was running his rdb yesterday with an aac mini 4. I still needed ear pro and I was 30 yards away. All a can does on a short 556 barrel is ruin balance.

Buy a short 9mm upper and get a can for that.

It's not just about sound signature, but flash and dust signature are both greatly reduced by running a suppressor.

I'm SBR'ing an AR15 lower. Haven't decided on a home defense caliber, but using CMMG uppers I can run 9mm or 5.7x28, or a short barrel gas 300 blk upper. My wife and I are in our 70's so the 9mm and 5.7 make more sense from a recoil standpoint. Low recoil, rounds on target and a good defensive round work for me. And, lots of good suppressors for subsonic pistol rounds.

Hey Buddy, im going through the same thing. I want to tame my 7.5 Diablo upper. Its not the noise that bothers me its the concussion.

Anyhow, what i have decided to do is, buy the Noveske kx3 piggy brake. From All the reviews and videos ive watched, it seems it tames the concussion pretty well. At least to a bearable level. Im not looking to make it quiet, just to be as loud as any other AR.
It seems the Noveske kx3 will do that AND the surefire Warden. I would prefer the warden because then you can put a surefire can on it but it costs 3x amount of noveske. You have to buy the warden And a sure muzzle attachment like the surefire warcomp or something.

Anyhow look it into if. If you live in AZ, pm me and when i get my kx3 in my diablo, you can shoot it and see if its what you want. Wont cost you anything but gas. If you live in AZ that is.

I would think any kind of brake would be louder than a flash hider. I just have a flash hider and it's louder than hell, can't imagine a brake on it.

5.7 counts on velocity, so you're not going to use subsonic there. 9mm means you'll have to set up some sort of adapter for your lower. Blackout is going to be the easiest to deal with.

If you can afford it, consider a dedicated .45, maybe as a braced pistol. The CMMG MkG (formerly called Guard) has a radial delayed blowback, which should help with port pop. Plus, .45 is probably as effective as Blackout, and practice ammo is cheaper. Blackout can also punch pistol caliber armor, although burglars probably aren't going to be wearing armor.

If I did not care I would try to sell a can. It is sort of what I do for a living. Yet I am the only one advising against it.

I've got cans here I could sell dirt cheap. They were given to me by another FFL. I just don't like selling something someone will regret buying later.

I shot a few hundred rounds suppressed today. Definitely takes the edge off on 556. More enjoyable for sure. Shot my other rifle unsupressed and wished i had 2 cans because it was waaay louder (can takes long time to cool down )

You already have a 9mm, go with that! It's going to be a lot better than a glorified .22.

I don't know, I guess I don't pay enough attention, but I never thought of Blackout as being a heavy recoiling cartridge. With subsonics, it's about the same energy as .45 acp.

I was thissss close to getting one, just before they announced the new model and the old model sold out in a hurry. I hesitated because of the weight, and a real rifle can isn't necessary for Blackout subs. A lighter and shorter pistol can will do. Or so I thought, because the one I tried ended up being loud and I really couldn't find any others that I liked, so now I'm back to wanting a Resonator K but they aren't out there yet.
