Not too much ice up there this year. I've heard of a few sad individuals drove their trucks out on the Lake Michigan side and lost them thru the ice.

That's one of the first things after unloading the Uhaul.

Obviously not going to have it out but want to be aware of specific laws.
Nevada is OK with loaded handguns in the vehicle. Hunting regs. don't allow rifles and shotguns.

Yeah, I did a quick Google search. All of the states I'll be travelling thru are fine with loaded handguns in the vehicle as long as they are not concealed on a person. In the glove box, under the seat etc. is ok.

All except for Iowa. If I understand what I read, a handgun has to be in the trunk or a part of the vehicle not accessible by the driver.

Correct, it is illegal to transport a firearm in a vehicle on a public highway in Iowa, unless it is unloaded and in a securely fastened case. You must transport handguns unloaded in a closed container or a securely wrapped package. The container or package must be too large to conceal on your body and must not be readily accessible to anyone in the vehicle.

If you have enough time to get your AZ non-resident CCW you could carry through all states on your route except CO and MI.

            Good luck!
