    Future Expatriate

    Well, finally making the move.

GF and I bought a place in Michigans U.P. (Da Yoop) last fall with plans on moving there in 2 - 3 years. GF had a job drop in her lap so, we're moving in 2 weeks!

Am I going to miss my job? Yes!
Am I going to miss the >4 million people in the San Diego area? NOPE!
Am I going to miss Kalifornistan? The gun regs, nope, not a bit.

We are packing up, arranging for a realtor (a friend my GF), selling a car to my brother and trashing a lot of junk I haven't seen in years. If I haven't seen/used it in years, I don't need it.

The unknown future is a little scary but I can already tell things are going to be great!

Great news! I escaped 3 years ago, and thank my Goddess every single day that I'm out of that loony bin!

          Congrats!

Get snowshoes and a snowmachine and a snowblower on sale during their 2 weeks of summer.

I spent a lot of time in the UP and it is absolutely beautiful up there.

enjoy the freedom, but be prepared for the cold!

Get some good boots, gloves and jacket.

I grew up in Michigan so I am (or at least was) used to cold and snow.

My brother is moving to Kalifornistan, Pasadena specifically - and is giving me his snowblower, lawnmower and a bunch of other stuff. He's left-leaning and I don't think he has any guns so he should be fine. LMAO.

My first purchase will be a 4x4 truck.

Buy a nice canoe. I would love to live in the UP, but my family would not!

Yay! More room for me. Sen Diego inbound August 2020.

Btw, I'm with you on throwing out a bunch of junk. I have a pile picked up as bulk waste once a month. I threw out a whole outdoor furniture set this week. Why? Nobody in my house has used it in the last 3 years. Also cutting down a workbench in my garage for firewood because nobody has used it in 6 years.

                        And the even better news?

The company I work for has decided it's in their own best interests to let me work from home. WOOOOOO HOOOOOO! Nothing like feeling appreciated! My boss really went to bat against the CEO for me.

Now, what are the rules for traveling with my pistol in the cab of the uHaul with us? The route is 15 north to the 70E to the 80 E. Kalifornistan, Nevada, the NW corner of Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin & Michigan.

Obviously not going to have it out but want to be aware of specific laws.

Congrats on your CalExit! If you are moving your cars, get your driver licenses and new plates/registration first thing! Don’t be driving around with CA plates!
