That's so funny. She got her's presented to her by a 3 star with public media disclosure, and when I got mine my Team SGT just handed me the certificate, and said here go you (it wasn't even in the green folder thing either).

Not anymore. The points got bumped up quite a bit recently. E5 is still easy, but E6 is going to take work now. I suspect E5 will be the same next year. My BN used to have a lot of 35F slots open, and now they are all filled.

True. Even with how bloated the gov has become, theres only so many jackoffs they need for contracts and in useless jobs in all the 3 letter intel/defense agencies. So now that the automatic 6 figure job upon ETS is disappearing for 35 series, guys are staying in.

Its just too bad I didnt enlist right out of high school or I could have had a house or two paid off by now doing that 'work'

Also, this is aimed at all 35 series MOS's, not just 35F.

ARCOMs for everyone

Only for E6 and above in my unit. Somehow, watching vids on youtube or facebooking all day while downrange was worth a hell of a lot more to the army than what all my fellow junior enlisted and I did.

When I went through Army basic we got a week off , it was called "Recovery Week"

A whole week with no training..... so we could clean all our gear , the barracks , uniforms and get ready for all the smoke sessions that week before being shipped off to AIT. Recovery week sucked hard , im just glad we didnt get smoked in the ASU uniform like our sister company

Wait, you get a week off during boot camp?

If your training spans December, January you will have a week of HBL (Holiday Block Leave).

All school houses at Benning shutdown during this period. OSUT, IBOLC, OCS, etc...

WTH We never got any more than Family day off, when you graduate BCT and go into Infantry School. I dont think we ever got phones, or anything sugar except the powerade or whatever that was at the DFAC. We had a rock pit that we had to level every hour (E 1-50) Got smoked every few minutes, no one complained because our whole company werent Pu$$13S even though we averaged 3-4 hours of sleep a night. And I thought "the new Army" Drill Sgts cant touch or hit you. Well, theres a loop hole for everything. I loved it, if I can go to Infantry OSUT again I would do it.

Well ya, you were 11B. Thats the real army. The rest of us are not much tougher than the Air Force or even a veteran troop of Girl Scouts

Anyways, as said, the days of easy promotion are over. I am looking at E8 this year and there are only 180ish slots Army wide (and another 300ish non-specific intel). Thats not a whole lot of slots out of an Army of 480k.
