That's the thin I wat to be kicking in doors and jumping out of the sky and shooting machine guns but I want to translate that out to the civilain world lol

Feel like the good things for a job outside the military are non door kicking stuff like intel and IT stuff.

You want to go airborne? Join the 75th Ranger regiment. You don't have to go to ranger school to join the unit, but make sure you can get it in writing by your recruiter to join the 75th.

That is good advice. Join as a 25U (communications) with a Ranger contract. This will get you on the ground with the dudes and you still get to learn a skill. Rangers is a good place to start your career. A lot of people don't stay for too many years but if you do a good job, it will lead to all kinds of fun.

Wouldn't I need to go to ranger school? Not against it but just curious. My brother In law was a comm guy in ranger 3rd bat.

Think I have found a way to have both of what I want. Taking some of your advice being tech job in 75 ranger bat.

Can get tactical and learn a skill.

No. It isn't a requirement to get in the unit; I wasn't an Army guy but from the guys that I've heard the difference is that Ranger school is a school, but once you are in the 75th, being a Ranger is a way of life. Also it is harder to stay in the unit than it is to get in since people get rejected for failing to meet standards in the unit.

                    Sure we do.

It's just that when we kick it's usually from very high above the door we are kicking in.

he's pretty much right. there is very little you can do besides study to influence your promotion rate and if you're a bad test taker your screwed. I've been promoted quite fast but not all are so lucky...

Ok, point taken. Still, I've seen so-so test takers make rank. I made E-8 in under 19 years, and it wasn't because I had off the hook test scores. I've seen people move up the ladder via BTZ too.
