Tiger cruise?

The Cruises are awesome! Our CO loved showing how our tax $$ were being spent and really went out of his way to make it a fun ride.

Lots of ladder climbing, food is so-so and prolly some freshly burned gun powder. The twin screwed Tyco is one of the best rides out there. The Battle Group usually puts on a a kick butt air show, at sea you are not confined by flight constrictions.

From Pearl to San Diego can be a bit boring - you have time to reflect what your Sailor has gone through and get a chance to be amazed how much water there is out there and how vast distance is... something you won't learn driving around the States.

Tiger Cruises are a really great experience. My parents did one. Only catch is the paperwork (especially medical paperwork) is a royal pain in the ***. They often times make you fill out a ton of it and claim they have enough and last minute demand you do more and more things to finalize everything.

50ft waves are impossible. 5.0 ft waves? Sea state of 5? 50 ft waves are the computer graphics imaging in The Perfect Storm... Trust me, that old cruiser wouldn't survive a 50' wave. 20' starts causing problems on most CRUDES ships.

There are 50 foot waves that break in Maui that people surf.

There are 50 foot waves in storms in the middle of the ocean, I promise you. I spent time on a ship while deployed on a MEU and the waves get massive in hurricanes.

Had a friend who went on a "tiger cruise" on a carrier his cousin was stationed on. Over twenty years later, he still talks about what a great experience it was.

You have no where to go, the bathrooms are so bad they're embarrassing, it's either going to be really hot or super cold, food is the best of 4th grade lunch in the cafeteria, you WILL be in everyone's way and make every sailor's life more difficult, never ever shower without shoes.

If you like that stuff... do it.

I've seen 35 foot waves crashing up in to our hangar bay (CVN76), and those were MASSIVE. I'm about 90% sure a 50ft wave would cause a pretty significant amount of damage.
