I would re-enlist at the drop of a hat (or bomb I suppose) and ask to be put in one of the first units going in. I am with SoCal Sapper though, I'd rather be deployed for 2 years straight than do 2 deployments in 4-5 years and deal with the bull**** of garrison.

Yeah, I'd join again if the threat were serious enough. Not sure if I'd go enlisted or officer. If enlisted, I'd probably go Navy aircrew or SWCC. As an officer, I'm not really sure. A lot of Navy officer jobs seem pretty boring. The only officer job I'd really want would be JAG in any branch.

        Did my 20 years.

Just finished by first 10 years working for Dept of Air Force as a civilian doing the same job as when I was active duty.

Probably do another 10 then buy back my military retirement and get a 40 year civil service pension.

        To busted up to deploy.

If you haven't seen it with your own eyes,
or heard it with your own ears,
don't make it up with your small mind,
or spread it with your big mouth.

I have been WIA...and knowing what happens...I'd gladly go without a 2nd thought or hesitation. Next to my brothers in arms is the only place i'd rather be. HOOAH!

One of the main reasons I got out. It was fine before with 9-12 month dwell time and 12-15 month deployments. Now it's much more heavy on dwell time with shorter deployments. Still longer than any branch but I can't do garrison. Plus the war will be over soon (combat operations) and I'm not going to deploy just sitting there. I understand the necessity to have infantry and combat arms during peace but I'm not down for it.

You wouldn't go infantry again? I went early summer during the "summer surge" so what normally took less than a week took over two. We were relieved when we finally were getting to start basic until of course we got there and wished we were back at 30th haha.

If I lost the last 45lbs and we were attacked I would sign back up as a grunt. I always think about it as I wouldn't want to do anything else.

My Terminal leave actually ends tommorrow (89 days), but if something serious happened tomorrow I'd sign right back up and try to go back to the Deuce if possible.
