My point was that a COP is too small to have one. A base is not automatically a COP. A COP holds one infantry platoon, maybe two. It's too small to have those type of "luxuries". A FOB or firebase could have them but most COPs don't even have the basics like running water, let alone blimps.
No you're right about how tiny COPs are, but my battalion always tried to really leverage support of the PSSs for any of our projects or for general overwatch. I remember one detail was doing repairs off of Ring road, when they weren't working, the ANA/ANP was supposed to watch the road via checkpoints. Of course we kept finding IEDs in culverts or piles of rubble in the middle of the road. So until we got higher to send a PSS to watch over the repair area it was pretty unsafe.

That's good they got what they needed. Glad COPs are getting more assets. They definitely need it. Stay safe buddy. What RC are you in?

well we deployed with a Brigade and a big budget , so the boys are getting the support they need. Its a Cav platoon with a mortar element iirc

I was in Southwest, but we had details pushing all over through South and up to KAF.

I never saw Aerostat or other airships in any of the COPs I was at in Iraq, I am glad that they are doing that in Afghanistan now. They really helped some of the bigger FOB's with Mortar and Rocket attacks. The COPs usually were small enough that the IDF usually went over the COP or just under it do to bad aiming.

I can neither confirm or deny that the aerospace company I work for is building a stealth blimp. Lol

If it's the one being built in the blimp hangar at the old MCAS Tustin, then I can confirm it... nobody ever told me I couldn't.

LOL, they let an entire freaking film crew run around in there... it was nothing more than a large erector set at the time, hardly anything truly OPSEC.

Sometimes, the device has low batteries. Gotta try it again on you

The Hale D is a high altitude air ship produced by Lockheed and was launched in 2011. There are many being developed using liquid ballast and round shapes to overcome the altitude restrictions of a normal shaped derigible.

Many new companies are working this technology and it has come a long ways from a blimp in a ballgame. Self sealing is available so rounds not a problem also new altitudes leave them unseen comletely.

Rumor has stealth already in use in the sand.
