    Graduated BCT yesterday

Graduated BCT yesterday from good ol Ft Jackson and here I am at the Charlotte Airport waiting for my plane. Been here for about 2 hours and I've already been thanked for serving my country from about 10 different strangers It's a great feeling. Feels kinda weird walking among civilians after spending the last 10 weeks with just Drill Sergeants lol. I must admit, it really is "Relaxin" Jackson. The worst part of my time there was the "hurry up and waits"...Too many immature kids way too many. Undisciplined to say the least. Luckily I'm over that stage and not once was I personally smoked for my actions. I stayed under the radar kept to myself and followed directions. Victory Forge was a joke. Probably spent 75% of my time sitting around cleaning my weapon. The 12 mile march back was pretty tough considering the terrain we drudged through. My legs were hurting for days! Overall, it was a memorable experience I never want to go through again. Now onto AIT and hopefully I do my thing and graduate as a Healthcare Specialist/Combat Medic. Wish me luck!!

Congrats! And have fun in Medic-School. Ft. Sam Houston is a great post, and you're there in San Antonio... Check out the Alamo and all the cool **** there. From what I have heard (I am Infantry, so didn't go there, but know lots of Comba Medics) You'll only be locked down for a few weeks while they inprocess you and make sure you know you're still in "Training" and then it turns into a 9-5 with mostly classroom, while weekends and evenings are yours in the town. Good luck!

Graduated from Ft. Jackson in 1971... Sounds as if life is treating our servicemen better now, thank God! You stay safe -- take the high ground, keep your head down...and thanks from an old artillery Major (ret)

Congrats private… now beat your face and when you get a chance, go to Airborne school. Stay safe and I’ll give you a valuable piece of advice my dad gave when I was in that helped me out greatly… Never volunteer for S***t Now beat your face soldier!

Congrats! My brother graduated from Fort Jackson last February! The super moto band that played all the music at family day sucked so bad! God if they said "Freedom isn't free" one more time I would have killed myself!

Nice going and remember that this is just the beginning of your military career.

good job. And I should look up the origin of the don't volunteer mindset. Hopefully its not rooted in the desire of privates to avoid stupid details because almost everything unique in the army involves volunteering such as airborne, rasp, ranger school, special forces, delta... Even joining.
one time I volunteered for some wack detail and ended the day drinking beers with Toby Keith after we were off duty.
                            enjoy your next stop

remember to put a sheath over your weapon during AIT out there, I've heard Ft. Sam Houston had the highest female to male ratio in the Army don't knock anyone up!
