The fsc I was attached to had an e7 shoot himself in the foot in a Humvee on mission that was hilarious ridiculous and frustrating. I don't know how many times I would place his weapon on safe while he had it slung. Some people never learn.

If you read his other thread you would know he is an intel guy still in AIT.

Although with that said, the individuals from P.R. I deployed to with had the worse weapons handling skills ever, NDs leaving weapons laying around/ behind. Now maybe they were the rejects of the Island, but they left an awful bad taste in my mouth for Puerto Ricans, to this day I don't know how we made it thru a year in Baghdad during the surge without any fatalities.

          Snoopy47,

Might as well start a blog about this because you ain't seen nothing yet. Just don't talk about stuff you're not suppose to.

I'm surprised you don't already have a blog on your LE experience.

You'd be surprised how stupid some people are. When I was in WLC there were so many NCO's that had ND's during training it was ridiculous. None happened when I was the PSG though, I made damn sure to stand by that clearing barrel and inspect every single weapon as it was being cleared.

I think some "remedial PT" would be in order as well, say replace their rifles with sections of tow bar, and have them do D and C with it, port arms and present arms for a few minutes each would get the sweat flowing and those muscles shaking. Simply having them lug it around all day in place of a rifle is sure to drive home the message thru both the shear physical demand but also the embarrassment and shame.

So with all of this from these supposedly "trained" soldiers - do we REALLY want wide open CCW's for every other slack jawed yocal out there?

Nope, should have to pass a test first. Same with voting and free speech.

NDing with Blanks is bad but if there is ever a time for those mistakes it is while you are a private and in a training environment. Still no excuse though. I watched (and heard!) this MP dude ND a 50 over a FOB on my way to the chow hall. That was really bad and I am not sure my hearing has ever been right since then. Very scary.

Just remember when you think of the "average" intelligence in your command that means half the people are below it.

Let me get this straight... There isn't someone actually double checking yall while you clear your weapons?

That is where you are failing. Maybe you should step up to the plate, show some initiative, and take charge of the problem.
