Yupper, been there done that and now if they can hold this change until after I retire. It would be great.

I am currently in Afghanistan and have been issued the new MCU (Multi-Cam Uniform). I love the pattern and how it blends with a lot out here...all except the snow! :/ dammit! But anyways the only thing is that they are the same flame resistant material and Permetharine treated just like the Lighter material Flame resistant ACUs we had in Iraq. I wish a regular material would be used such as the same original ACU material, cause these things rip too easy and fade to fast!! Also a new memo came out in OCT of 2011 that MCU is now to be worn in the states for all drilling units and ACU shall be slowly phased out! But the plus side, WE GOT RID OF THE DAMN BERET! YAY!

i haven't heard about MCU being phased in yet. but a guy at my work drills at Ft. Lewis and half the base is wearing it. most are going to Afghanistan. the only phase out i know of is that the velcro on the pockets on the pants is being phased out and the buttons ones are coming in.

do you have a copy of this memo you can post. OPSEC applies also. if not it's ok.

I don't understand the thinking the country with the most expensive and high tech fighter planes and missile systems and the most bass ackwards method of choosing basic soldier systems. Instead of golfing with reps why not go straight to the enlisted for oppinions

Seems that the general consensus I have heard personally has been atacs is superior to multicam - when I see pics of a full kit that's seems to be the case.

when it came to choosing MultiCam in Afghanistan the team that went were shot at, RPG's shot at them and so on. it was not an easy mission to do. MultiCam works just about everywhere and ATACS seems to be used in an urban enviroment such as the photo you provided. it also looks a staged due to the fact the uniform and concrete block are almost the same color and direction.

What...again? A-TACS is great for Afgha and rocky areas like it...blends in well at most locations at Fort Irwin; non-rocky deserts with some shrubbery/greens is well suited for the 3-color desert Camo; woodland is pretty good most everywhere where greens predominate. I like the the Kings Shadow camos...their different varieties blend in well to the areas for which they were created.

Oh wait, it gets better, they are planning to redesign the PT uniform as well.

Because... well... you know... uh... the old one didn't work.

My comments on the IPFU survey were pretty much "don't waste taxpayer money on a new PT uniform."
