It means that retention and recruiting has met their goals in those specialities. probably due to the poor economy.

More likely due to the drawdown than the economy.

Is there anybody that can confirm this? Why would the most important job not be available? It could be the downsize or do spots really fill up now a days?

The military is downsizing folks. Remember, the military is letting go of nearly 60,000 service members by 2014.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

I had the same problem after 9/11 and that was after constantly inquiring about MOS availability for months.

                    Infantry mos's

Yes they are closed till next year. However. I doubt things will change by next year. These might be locked out for some time. Due to down sizing and limit budgets

Omg.... apparently there are only certain MOS's open and its not anything i would want. He knows i wouldnt want any of these and said "i know man". He not pushing me to any MOS and is being cool with me. If i wanted a certain MOS i would have to wait till it's open. Even with my score nothing good popped up. He said i can wait no problem. Do they have to fill in certain spots for certain months?

It should be based on fiscal year projections, so if he's filled his quota for this year you're talking there won't be any openings until 01 Oct 2012 unless there are a high number of drops from basic or A school.

This. Learn land nav before you ship though. I've read that a great portion of 18x flunkies get booted during the land nav course.

That sucks! Those are the two best jobs. But like others have said, go 18X, even if you don't make it, you'll still be Infantry.
