Ft Lewis is a nice area. If you like backpacking/hiking/skiing you'll like it up there. Great Exchange and Commissary too. I used to go there all the time when I was in college in Tacoma (2001-2006). Just don't be like the d-bag MP that called hazmat on me at 1AM because my car overheated on the side of the road outside the gate. You'll make no friends on the hazmat team and you tend to piss off the civilians.

All kidding aside. I've heard only great things about Europe. Makes me wish we had a sub base over that way so I could actually get stationed there. If it were my choice, it'd be Europe hands down.
