So it's almost that time and I'm trying to figure out where to TRY to go, because let's be real, the Army is going to send me where ever they choose to send me. That being said I have a few ideas and am looking for opinions. Thanks all.

Have you seen the options lately?
Depending on your MOS, you have a high probability of going to Korea. -
I say Korea, then again when I was there in 2003. I liked it, but then again I was 19. Active duty bases are all kind of the same...... DO something different like go over seas. When I joined that is what I told myself. I did Korea first, then Washington DC, tried to stay away from Ca for those 4 years. Good luck though I hear you don't really have much choice in things anymore as the Army appears to be over strength.Comment

If your a Career Soldier, take the billet that will best challenge you and take you out your comfort zone. I'm no Soldier but I am a Sailor; I could have taken a billet back in Florida when I was an E-4 that would have kept me close to home (Bama), I came to San Diego to challenge myself and what do you know I was promoted to Sonar Technician Senior Chief (STGCS) after 12 years of service. Challenging billets suck but they pay off in the long run.Comment

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.

You're only young once. Best time to live in Europe. The guns will be waiting for you when you get back!
Air Force calls this the "dream sheet". You check all the places you want to go, they usually send you somewhere somewhat close but not close enough you're thrilled about the move.
Being from California I always put California. But I also loaded up my sheet with overseas locations including the places nobody wanted to go like Korea and Turkey. I figured I was young, and those places were once in a life time experiences. First stop, New Jersey! Go figure. Fortunately that assignment had me traveling constantly as part of the job. So I still got to see Europe and the Middle East. Quickly learned Europe was the place to be. So I updated my dream sheet just in case and filled it out with just Europe and California. Next stop, Arizona! Go figure! Arizona wasn't bad, but a mentally ill surpervisor playing God games with people's careers (putting people in prison and forcing them out) before committing suicide himself spoiled my love for the military. It was more the fact that so many people went along with, protected and covered up the crazy stuff the guy did that ruined it for me. That was not the Air Force I fell in love with. Not the Air Force I wanted to make a career out of. So I got out when my four years of active duty were up, took the honorable discharge and went to college at the University of Arizona. I have to admit. I miss it. Not the crazy back stabbers...but all the rest of it. If not for that PCS to Arizona I would be retiring this year as a Chief Master Sergeant. This time next year I am going to be really missing that pension check that I'm never going to get.Last edited by tacticalcity; 10-20-2011, 11:16 AM.Comment

In my "old guy" opinion, and experience, you will regret the things you didn't do. Go where you can get every school available.
Make your "bucket list" early while there's still time to get the ticket-punches you'll need. Don't let "today" be wasted, you'll regret it tomorrow."I don't like repeat offenders, I like DEAD offenders!" ~Ted Nugent
