Yes. Having any kind of record beyond a couple traffic-type violations...any kind of drug or violence-related conviction, ever. These were things that were regularly waivered until a year or so ago.

I'm in the same boat as you, medical and RE3 holding me up, I'm just shooting for reserves now though as my civi job is starting to take me places.

I think I would go with a Telecaster. The bolt on neck would be the strongest to deal with terrorist zombies. I know most folks will say Strat, but I think the trem system is unreliable.
I mean, who needs to dive bomb when SHTF? That only happens in movies.

Enlistment numbers are down simply because they military has slowed down the enlistment process. The entire military is over strength so enlistment standards have risen. It's HARD to enlist right now.

          ^^ True

My cousin enlisted for the Marines, and due to over enlistment he won't get to be shipped out until Nov. My Brother in law also is still being process for boot camp training for the Navy, so enlistment hasn't gone down but increase rather.

All because of the big recruiting push in 2008-2009. I think it's pretty funny they threw a NUC at us for swelling the Corps so big that they need to start downsizing and make people fight for boat spaces.

so in your opinion is it good or bad that there are more applicants than spots available? it will no doubt make each soldier have better attributes, so everyone will be more elite, but is it better to be more elite or just have more people?

It's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. Young men and women who want to serve their country should be mature enough to know what they should and shouldn't be doing in their civilian lives in order to enter the armed forces.

This number is low out where I am on recruiting duty... I'd put it at a solid 90% on a good day.

It has gotten much harder... people arent leaving for 6 to 8 months, and the job slots are really limited right now... the people you are getting in your unit probably signed their contract a year or more ago.
