then you end up in a room with a few areas .... Urinalysis , Blood , hearing , vision , and another doctor consult.
Then you guys all go into a room , get down to your skippies and demonstrate movements from leg kicks on one leg to duck walks
Then you make two lines one for Ears/Mouth the other for the Cup check and Backdoor inspection... my advice is dont think about it and dont make eye contact.

After that you are pretty much done unless you are fingerprinting and swearing in ... then add another couple of hours. Dont be afraid to talk to the other people with you , it kind helps ease your mind about whats happening.

Hope that helps , i just did meps a few weeks ago

I was at meps monday, and it was not what I expected. Everyone was extra nice always calling you sir or mister. You get togos for lunch (my work hasnt bought us lunch in 3 years). A lot of the people there are immature (good entertainment). If you have to wait for a while, people watching isnt so bad, especially watching the marine recruits, the ghetto ones get owned and yelled at by the recruiters. I could go on, or the guy who failed the security interview and didnt qualify for his job that was talking extra loud on the phone how its all a scam and the military is bull s and that he will just join the coast guard now...
If you are just doing the physical, the doctor will ask you about estema, but he is really talking about asthma. I was lucky though, I wear glasses so when it comes time to do embarrassing stuff like get your balls checked, butthole inspected and peeing I can take them off and go with the "I cant see them so they cant see me" strategy.
Its not bad, I just figured if I am joining the military I expect to lose a lot of my individuality and comfort while on duty.

Zorrm will be there tomorrow.... LOL.. just be patient and courteous to everyone and you will have no issues. Oh and don't come up with something you didn't tell your recruiter on the while you are there.

everyone has already hit on the "Hurry Up and Wait" parts of it, but I did MEPS back east, and they actually put us up for the night at a ghetto motel across from the processing station. This was a blast, just because everyone knew that they were shiping out more or less the next day, and anything goes. talk up some hot chicks going to the Air Force while you're in the station, and you've alreay got them preped for the evening at the hotel.

              just sayin...

                oh dang...a "Sir".
When I went to LA and San Jose MEPS as an OSO/OTS candidate for prelim stuff it was always to the front of the line for EVERYTHING as I had a 1st Lt. escort me for everything both times (I never made it to OTS or OCS).
As enlisted....another story. Nothing bad, just wait wait wait. The only one I saw give hell to anyone was the old bag that watched you sign in for chow.
                Good luck

There's a meps in El Segundo?

I went to the one in LA.

Remember to be nice and be courteous, it just might make your visit bearable.

Thanks ... the only thing i left out is how people fail urinalysis for eating to much bacon/sausage in the morning ( high protein levels) or how people jump in the pool and sometimes fail something ear related. Having been to Meps recently i hope it helps someone else out.

^ THis is soooo true. They may put a lot of emphasis that " it will come back to you and not your recruiter " or " yeah they can get you for fraudulent enlistment" but from what i understand is that they dont check unless you have something unpaid or outstanding. I saw two people get DQ'd by bringing up something medical on one of them and a ticket on another one

WOW. My OSO told me to meet him here at 0430 and he hasn't shown up yet. I've tried calling him 6 times and haven't heard from him. This is extremely frusturating.

If you can read this and you`re still there, go to the office of your service branch and see if they`ve printed your visitor`s pass. If so, just check in at the front desk and they`ll point you in the right direction.
Last time I went to the MEPS I was "cancelled" by some mistake, thank God one of the Sergeants was able to fix it.

I went back to MEPS to get my commissioning physical. I got to go to the front of every line and was out of there after only a couple hours. But I'm pretty sure they gave me that treatment because I was a currently-serving enlisted Soldier at the time, not because I was in OCS.
