was the receptionist an older black woman? if so i remember her when i went in 3 years ago. she def was a b*$*$, this guy that i went with, he had stars running up his forearm and she asked what they meant, he told her his mother had died and she had always told him since he was little to "never stop reaching for the stars" she then told him it was a stupid idea and even dumber tattoo, he ripped into her. they barred him from enlistment. i went in myself during my physical and interview with the doc ollld guy with bald head really long hair in the back. now i had long hair, some master sgt came in to do some paperwork and the old man was like blah blah you long hair hippy. this and that, i never had this problem before men with long hair disgusts me, its meant for women! i then told him that the reason i grew my hair out was so i could donate it to cancer patients(which was true) he lets out this long angry grunt, yea i hadda drop trou, he proceded to make me cough but squeezed extremely hard. my meps experience was bad. i was like you couldnt sleep all night, so i was finished got my job, and went back to the waiting room for my ride. i started nodding out, the rent a cop started yelling at me. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP. so i tried a few times. kept nodding out. he got in my face and was telling me he i better stay awake or hes gunna kick me out of the army. i started laughing and told him he was just a rent a cop, nothing more, nothing less. hes not in the military nor associated with it in any way. he got really red and threatened to call the SFC that was in charge for the day. i told him go ahead, im not in the army yet, whats he going to do? yell at me too? he stopped. told me if i wanted to sleep to go into the restroom and he wouldnt bother me. so i did, set my alarm for an hour woke up and went back out and my recruiter came a few min later. i told him what happened after he said that it was all FUD they technically couldnt do anything about my contract since it was already signed and processed. that swear in you do once you sign is just the first of i think 3. youll do another when you go back for ship date, and another final one, once you get to 36th(?) AG Reception battallion. reception sure is fun. lol. MEPs all over again, for a week, plus drill sgts and less sleep

Most people there are dicks. Thats what I learned from being there 3 days in a row. Recruiters are your friend, counselors are there to fill quotas. Some big Major marine guy ran into me and chewed me out like it was my fault when I was standing still. 2 of the days I spent hanging around because my counselor was being a dick doing everything he could to keep me from enlisting.

The hotel plays reruns of mythbusters like 24/7. Food is the same everyday. My roomate left and slept somewhere on the beach.

Overall, Forget that place couldnt wait to be out of there.


ps. Also enlisted as 11x. INFANTRY HOOAH!!!!!

haha the peanut butter shot. It is a shot right in your butt cheek. It doesn't hurt to bad when it happens but the next few days you will be limping. After that shot you go through an assembly line of shots and getting your blood draw. Not a fun day. But you will get many more shots during your time in the army.

30th AG was worse than basic in my opinion. I think out of everything I have done in the army so far 30th AG was the worse part.

the ammonia inhalelets they shoved in your face when you were nut to butt in the medical office waiting for blood drawn and shots. oh idk about benning or the other places but at our reception they didnt tell us what we could and couldnt eat. so we were happy, getting short order, lil cakes, then actual training started. WTF IS THAT ON YOUR PLATE! EVERYONE PAYING FOR THAT!" oh god, thank god iwas never That Guy. thats another thing dont be That Guy when you start training. there was this one dude, matthas, actually got smoked daily in reception, that was un heard of! lol

Yes, the receptionist at the front desk was a black woman but like everybody else that worked at MEPS, she was very nice and she answered a lot of my questions like, for example, why I got a yellow sticker and not a purple one or what all the different folder colors meant.

And thanks for explaining what the shot was, it doesn't sound to pleasant but I guess it's not that bad either, right?

Also, is it just me or does some people look down upon the infantry?

I was telling my friend what my MOS was and his father kinda sneered when he heard that I was 11x.

The father basically told me that infantry were dumbasses who gets the bottem of the barrel because they can't score high enough on the ASVAB.

Any MEPS experience is bad... Especially when you have to bend over in front of someone and spread the cheeks....ugh. I'd rather hurry up and wait for a shot call than going back to MEPS.

Ive had a few recruiters tell me that Police like to hire infantry folks before MP folks

my church member who just graduated from SOI/ITB and he is going to be stationed at 29 palms. His MOS is 0352 I believe, TOW gunner and they are part of infantry. His ASVAB score was 94.

I scored 82 and CHOSE infantry. 2 other guys I was with scored 99 and 95 and also CHOSE infantry.

Your dads friend is an idiot. Maybe back in the old army but nowdays infantry is the gateway to rangers, sf, sappers, airborne, sniper... even after the military police departments rather choose an 11b/c over and mp because civilian law is a lot different then military.

Imagine the medical personnel pulling out the biggest needle you have ever seen in your life. You wonder where they want to stick you with it until...until she tells you to drop your pants and don't flinch or flex your butt cheeks. The penicillin goes in nice and thick and feels like a blob of peanut butter in your butt. I'm not gonna lie haha it may not hurt at first but just give it a second. You'll be favoring one cheek when you sit down. GOOD LUCK!

i scored a 90 on my asvab, i have a 121 gt the second highest in my platoon. i drive tanks. so much for being abottom of the barrel dumbass. i bet your friends father has an iq of 10

But it's alright, MEPS is just about done, i just need a punctual recruiter now to take the time and create my ako account before the 10 days are up.
