Saw this on Wednesay in my homeland security class. Yea, its nothing new at all. There's been many stories amongst the infantry and special ops community regarding having Bin Laden in their sights and they were somehow denied.. Who knowsFor a combat soldier, the difference between success and failure is your ability to adapt to your enemy. The people that we deal with, they don't care about the rules. All they care about is a result. My job is to stop them from completing their objective, at all costs.Comment

He's on the flying saucer with Elvis and Howard Hughes. Seriously, maybe he's alive, maybe his isn't. He is a human being and will die of something. He could be alive or he could have died from anything that would kill anyone else. . . fell down, drowned, got sick, car wreck, infection from a cut, etc. Kind of kills your ability to be a martyr if you died from the flu.

The only report I recall this occuring was prior to 9/11 and under President Clinton's guidance. I think it was shortly after the USS Cole attack.sigpic

Isn't the bounty on Osama Bin Laden only $36 million, dead or alive? I'm sure that would have been an excellent motivator...Life is like having a map with precise directions and exact stops, you find out that your directions and stops change as you progress further down your original map.Comment

If you're talking about Tarnak Farm, yes, that was the closest we got before 9/11. Supposedly, the Agency had him in sights from a Predator drone but didn't kill him. Part of me wonders if we had Hellfire-equipped Predators then, how different history would have been.Comment

$36 million is child's play. No self-respecting mobster would give a hoot about $36 million.
Solution: withdraw from the sandbox. Put a few billions of dollars we spend on sending our boys over there instead into a reward pool for his capture.
Can you imagine- a $100 billion prize? We'd have him behind bars in no time-Unless he's already dead.
Sure, there may be a lot more old folks heading over there with a saber and Civil-war era revolver, but life's an adventure.
And we'd save some cash and American lives, too!Comment

Brutha, you are on the low end! The combined intelligence budget for 2010 is $80 billion:$36 million is child's play. No self-respecting mobster would give a hoot about $36 million.

The United States spent $80 billion on spy activities in 2010, the first time the government has officially announced the total tab for intelligence spending.
We've been at war for almost 10 years. Do the math!Comment

Thank your neighbor and fellow gun owners for passing Prop 63. For that gun control is a winning legislative agenda.
