No options in my contract but my initial APFT is 286. I am hoping to get it at 300 and be offered Airborne and RASP.

MEPS sucks. Lots of standing/sitting. Don't expect to be offered anything in basic and don't, for the love of god, mention to the drills that you were told by your recruiter that you could get an airborne contract in basic-you'll become a target for buying into the recruiters lies.
For that matter don't stand out at all. Become "gray man". We had a guy in my basic platoon that no one, not even the drills, knew about until graduation week. He was with us the whole time! Just do your part and you will have a great time! let me know if they are still doing the 25 miler at the end. From what i hear now basic trainees get cell phones and pizza.
Oh and do volunteer for KP, specifically pots and pans. You will actually get to eat! Normally (for us anyway) you ate what you could on the way to the trash cans. On KP you got to eat all the leftovers if you were slick about it.

All you really need to know is "DRILL SERGEANT YES DRILL SERGEANT!!!"

Oh and when you get to your first duty station be wary of the guys that try to befriend you! Normally when a new guy shows up he gets hazed a little by the majority of the platoon, but some soldiers will try to befriend you and "take you under their wing". Normally its because no one in the platoon likes them because they are shi-bags and they need friends. Just be forewarned.

Question is MEPS what we used to know as AFEES? I don't recall MEPS, my first stop was AFEES, of course that was many moons ago.

** Never mind answered my own question - its appears that AFEES was renamed MEPS in 1982.
