    ALMAR 004/08

    2. THE WEAR OF THE MCCUU IS RESTRICTED TO MARINES AND NAVAL
PERSONNEL PERMANENTLY ASSIGNED TO OR TEMPORARILY ATTACHED TO A
    MARINE CORPS UNIT.

MCCUU stands for Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform, for those who are wondering. The ALMAR may have been updated since then, I am not 100% sure about that. Again, this ONLY applies to Marine Corps issued cammies, the ones with the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor embedded in them. Any clones of said cammies that lack any Marine Corps identifying marks are perfectly acceptable for wear by civilians.

I remember my local recruiter and I having a talk about this one time when I was home on leave... He was a 'Heartbreak Ridge' type Gung Ho Marine Corps Jarhead Oohrah who loved to try and 'correct' any and all civilians he could. Of course, the majority of them laughed in his face and told him to **** off, but that wasn't going to stop him at all......... Good on him.
