If you are thinking corps, go corps you already sound defensive about associating with them.

I'm looking for the same thing and I'm going to college and joining the Corps. Most PDs are looking for people with degrees, and if you're not interested in college then it might make it extremely difficult at this point in time to become an LEO, both because what they expect and from what the job demandsComment

If you are thinking about it, go for it. I was thinking about it for years. I called CavTrooper and he got me set-up. I am in the army and I leave for Iraq in two months.
I think the army is better but that is just my opinion. I am already using my money from the army to go to college. They give me $4500 a year toward my college and it doesn't effect my GI Bill. Go to college, do University of Phoenix, easy as can be. One class at a time for 5 weeks. Don't do it if you are not in the service because it is expensive as ****.
Go call a recruiter and get started. Just talk to CavTrooper and go army.Comment

Even thou the military has a tendency to screw people over I will admit every one has a point about the education. I joined the army right out of high school and now i am bout to graduate with a four year degree in about a month. The military isn't gonna hesitate to screw you, so get every thing you can from it. I haven't totaled it up, but the college i have taken through army tuition assistance is probably worth about 20k
However, if i were you id find another way to be a copSSG US ARMYComment

^ What's your issue ? You always seem to have a problem with Marines. Maybe if you didn't wear so much rouge some of us jarheads wouldn't pass you up.Military background is a good way to get your foot in the door in a variety of career fields, just make sure you take advantage of the educational opportunities as well and dont waste your time getting s**tfaced drunk and nailing Thai transvestite prostitutes (I understand thats a favorite pasttime of sailors and jarheads).

Hey, I was at a CSMR orientation today. The NCOIC for recruiting is a former career Marine Sergeant Major. He asked if anyone was prior service. One buffed out young guy in front raised his hand...
The Marine said - what branch? The guy says "Army - 12 years - Ranger".
The Marine just smiles and says.....I'm sorry, my condolences.
So I guess this inter service bashing thing works both ways, huh?
In all honesty, The SGM dude was an absolute riot and joke cracker, but he latched onto that Ranger and ribbed the hell out of him the whole orientation.Comment

When the owner opened up this new forum I asked him about trash talking other branches and as long as its not to the extreme I don't edit or delete the posts or threads.
Veterans should be able to rib another Veteran, its been that way since 1775.

He's a stand-up guy, and I'm actually surprised you're mentioning that he was cracking jokes because he's usually as serious as cancer.
Anyway, there will always be interservice ball-breaking, it's all good.Comment

He was serious, and the jokes were in the form of extremely dry humor and sarcasm at times. The dude is totally squared away, and definitely had my respect. The SGM is my old SGM in that recruiting unit, served with him for two years and recently transferred out to another unit.
