Lance Corporal Centanni was my best friend in highschool. He was the only one that I ever used to hang out with that I ever called my brother. He was in all honesty the epitome of a man. Always had his head up, always had his spirits high, put 100% of his effort into everything he did, and always followed the path of God. It has been the honor of my life knowing him.

His funeral will be held on 4/6 at 10am at St Martin's Church off Yorba Linda Blvd and Fairmont Blvd if any locals want to come.

I knew Sergeant Major Cottle.. I served with him during my last AT at Fort Knox shortly before I got out.

He was the Battalion Sergeant Major for my unit, 4th LAR... I didn't know him too well, however every day when we secured our shop, my buddy and I would be in the smoke pits which was located between the COC tent and the motor pool, usually in between his walk-path every time he checked on the sections. He'd always stop by, talk, and hang out with us for a few minutes making sure we're doing well before he continued on.

He didn't have that "I'm a baadass, all you lowly E-7s and below BOW DOWN" attitude towards us like a lot of the other stacked-pin SNCOs.

We had a huge BBQ shortly before leaving, Sgt Major Cottle referee'd the tug-of-war competition and was totally excited watching guys slip to their faces.

I saw the cover on LA times featuring this article about him and Lance Corporal Centanni. I was shocked/sad/pissed when I read that article. Prayers and thoughts go to both of those Marines from my old unit.
