I hate the Army sleep system

I really dislike the army sleep system. Its warm and keeps the elements out but it really takes up a lot of room. I remember seeing another soldier a few months back with this sleep system that compressed into something that can fit in your hand. Like smaller than a canalope. Anyone knows who makes them or has experience with them? I cant remember who that soldier is so I cant ask him lol.
On another note. Anyone know of any hard core compression sacks? The army ones arnt strong enough to cinch down hard and I've snapped some before.

Pack light, freeze at night is the old lightfighter way. I lived for years with a Poncho liner that I had done with a zipper and a space blanket. The space blanket has to be one of those old heavy duty OD on ones side types.

Now I go with the gortex bivy and a poncho liner or the lightweight bag and you should be good down to 20 degrees.

I've got the Kifaru "Slick Bag" and a "Woobie". They're pricey, but great gear. A brit outfit, Snugpak or something similar also makes small bags.

Not as nice as the USAF system though

yep i agree. i dont always take all of mine when i go to the field or to the range and stay in the barracks. take what you need and it should fit where you need it.
